Rape-accused Hindu godman Gurmeet's frustrated bhakts threaten mass conversion to Islam

Chandigarh, Oct 3: The frustrated followers of rape accused Hindu godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh have threatened mass conversions to Islam in an apparent bid to divert attention from the charges of mass rapes and killings.

The controversial Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief's followers claim that their chief - Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh - was jailed because he is a Hindu and that Hindu organisations are easy targets.

The latest allegation and the threat of conversion surfaced on social media in a video which is being anchored by none other than the Dera spokesperson Sandeep Mishra himself. In the video, he can be seen in conversation with a Dera follower whose face is masked. The video, as claimed by Mishra himself, was shot in Sirsa. In the video, Mishra claims that the Dera followers are in touch with AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Shahi Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari, the 13th Shahi Imam of the Jama Masjid, Delhi.

"If you love Hindustan... it will bring tears to your eyes that being a Hindu is a crime in our own country Hindustan. When faith is under attack, why not to convert? I am being joined by people with a similar mindset," says Sandeep Mishra in the video.

The person on the other side, whose face has been masked, says converting to Islam will be beneficial for them as nobody touches Muslims even when they throw stones. "We face bullets even when we are empty-handed. Our leader is in touch with Muslim leaders and we will convert when one lakh followers give their consent," says the Dera follower who says they will live in India after converting to Islam.

In the video, Sandeep Mishra is also heard saying that those who are followers of Ram get punished while those who pledge their allegiance to Rahim are allowed to go scot free. The follower also claims that all Dera followers will convert to Islam in batches of one lakh followers. He also says that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh paid the price for being a Hindu.

But, sources say, Mishra is not the brain behind this fresh controversy. Sources say that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh - the Dera chief who knows how to play the religion card well - himself is the brain behind the controversy. Sources have revealed that despite being behind bars, the controversial Dera chief is managing the sect and is guiding his aides on their next course of action from inside the jail.

Sources say besides the well wishers in the BJP-led state government, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh also has friends in the police and bureaucracy who could possibly be helping him manage the affairs of the Dera from the jail itself.

Sources and former Dera followers allege that when the police can give a free hand to the fugitive Honeypreet and Dr Aditya Insan who have continued to evade the police for the last five weeks, they may also be helping their jailed boss by offering internet or social media access. The jail authorities have, however, denied these allegations.

Interestingly, both the mobile phone numbers that Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh provided - of himself and of Honeypreet - could not be verified by the jail authorities as both the numbers were switched off.

"Gurmeet Ram Rahim is not able to speak to anybody in the Dera as the numbers provided by him were not verified. The allegations are not based on facts," says DGP Prisons, Haryana, Dr KP Singh.

Former Dera followers like Gurdas Singh Toor and Gurmeet Ram Rahim's relative Bhupinder Singh Gora say the jailed sect chief knows how to misuse and exploit religion to divert attention when things go against him.

"He is a clever fox and knows the power of religion. He used to change the names of Hindu followers to Muslim names just to prove that Muslims are also his followers," says Gurdas Singh Toor.

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim's relative Bhupinder Singh Gora has demanded a probe into the mass conversion threat raised by Sandeep Mishra in the video.

Some right wing organisations have also taken a serious note of the threat. Chandigarh-based Vishwa Hindu Parishad leader Vijay Bhardwaj has criticised Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh for using the religion card to divert public attention.

"The claims made by him that he has crores of followers are false. He has a few lakh supporters who are non-Hindus as they had joined the Dera. The society will disown the Dera chief and his followers as they are accused of exploiting innocent female followers," says Vijay Bhardwaj.

Interestingly, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh - the controversial Dera Sacha Sauda Chief who added Ram and Rahim to his name saying that it would send out the message that the Dera is a confluence of all religions - is now accused of himself disturbing communal harmony between the two religions.

First of all everyone need to understand that ISLAM is not just limited to any group, faction.

It has come as guidance to all. It does not need to bribe anyone or put any condtions to accept.

Muslims are just requied to pass the message of Islam to everyone and leave it for them to accept or refuse.

therefore Muslims are not allowed to forcefully convert nor allowed to bribe anyone to accept Islam.

It is very clear.

Because it is not the religion of man, it is the command of 1 and only 1SINGLE  almighty GOD.

In this case, Islam does not need conditional acceptance or conversion. It is upto them whether to accept Islam or not.

But if they accept Islam,  Muslims can not reject or refuse them. Only the GOD knows what is their heart true conversion or hyprocracy.  This is clear.

Simply converting to Islam for revenge means what?? did they study Islam?do They know Islam? Converting means not only changing the names. He should follow it. He should completely surrunder to Allah. He should not tell lies, harm any human being, and all other creatures. Should ask forgiveness from Allah and leave all bad habits. Islam means only peace and help others how much can possible for you.

New Delhi, Jan 21: With the IMF lowering India's economic growth estimate for the current fiscal to 4.8 per cent, senior Congress leader P Chidambaram on Tuesday claimed an attack on the world body and its chief economist Gita Gopinath by government ministers was imminent.

He also alleged that the growth figure of 4.8 per cent given by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is after some "window dressing" and he won't be surprised if it goes even lower.

"Reality check from IMF. Growth in 2019-20 will be BELOW 5 per cent at 4.8 per cent," Chidambaram said in a series of tweets.

"Even the 4.8 per cent is after some window dressing. I will not be surprised if it goes even lower," the former finance minister said.

IMF Chief Economist Gopinath was one of the first to denounce demonetisation, he noted.

"I suppose we must prepare ourselves for an attack by government ministers on the IMF and Dr Gita Gopinath," Chidambaram said.

The IMF lowered India's economic growth estimate for the current fiscal to 4.8 per cent and listed the country's much lower-than-expected GDP numbers as the single biggest drag on its global growth forecast for two years.

In October, the IMF had pegged India economic growth at 6.1 per cent for 2019.

Listing decline in rural demand growth and an overall credit sluggishness for lowering of India forecasts, Gopinath, however, had said the growth momentum should improve next year due to factors like positive impact of corporate tax rate reduction.

Patna, Feb 28: Social and cultural activists from far and wide converged here on Thursday to lend their support to a massive rally that marked the conclusion of Kanhaiya Kumar's 'Jan Gan Man Yatra' across Bihar to galvanise public opinion against CAA-NPR-NRC.

Medha Patkar of the Narmada Bachao Andolan fame, Mahatma Gandhi's grandson Tushar Gandhi and former IAS officer Kannan Gopinathan, who gave up his career at a young age in protest against abrogation of Article 370, shared the stage with the former JNU students' leader.

Shabnam Hashmi -- founder of socio-cultural organisation ANHAD and sister of slain Marxist playwright and director Safdar Hashmi -- also joined them.

Congress MLA Shakil Ahmed Khan, a former president of JNU students' union himself who accompanied Kanhaiya during his tour that commenced at Champaran on January 30, Mahatma Gandhi's death anniversary, and leaders of state units of CPI and CPI(M) also addressed the rally held at Gandhi Maidan.

Kanhaiya began his speech with a one-minute silence held in the memory of those who lost their lives in Delhi violence.

Defending his frequent use of the term "azadi" (freedom) which supporters of the Sangh Parivar hold to be tantamount to supporting secession, Kanhaiya said, "We must talk about the virtues of azadi here since today happens to be the day when legendary revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad had given up his life fighting the British."

Charging the ruling BJP with pitting Hindus against Muslims, he said, "Let us resolve to defeat their agenda by emulating the fabled friendship of Ram Prasad Bismil and Ashfaqullah Khan."

The young CPI leader, who made an unsuccessful debut from his native Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency last year, seemed unimpressed with the resolution passed by the Bihar Assembly earlier this week against NRC and inclusion of contentious clauses in NPR forms.

"Both the government and the opposition are busy congratulating themselves. I extend my congratulations as well. But to all those who are present here, I would say it is a half-victory. We must not allow our movement to fizzle out and draw inspiration from Gandhi's model of civil disobedience when the NPR exercise gets underway," he said.

"Villagers should ask their respective panchayat heads to ensure that no NPR official is allowed to come knocking in their areas of jurisdiction when NPR is scheduled to be undertaken in May," the CPI leader said.

"We have to brace for a long and tough fight. We are living under a regime which sends conscientious professionals like Dr Kafeel Ahmed behind the bars and declares anybody questioning its actions as an anti-national," said Kanhaiya, who has himself been slapped with a sedition case.

Earlier, in his address, Tushar Gandhi likened CAA, NPR and NRC to the "three bullets that killed the Mahatma" and asserted that these measures would "harm the poor, belonging to all religious communities and not just the Muslims".

"If the government does not care about the poor, we must tell those in power -- 'chale jaao' (go away) just as we had done to the British colonisers... it is going to be a long fight. Independence was achieved five years after the call for Quit India Movement," he said.

"We need to keep repeating the importance of non-violence over and over again while those with other value systems simply have to utter inciting statements," he said, in an oblique reference to the controversial poll campaign of Union minister and BJP leader Anurag Thakur during the recently-held Delhi Assembly elections, which the party lost.

Kannan Gopinathan said, "The claim that CAA is all about granting citizenship and not taking it away is bunkum. Any law which seeks to favour one section of the society on the basis of religion can be tweaked to harm another social segment... people say this government is Fascist. I am not sure of that but it is certainly stupid."

"This government brought in demonetisation and wrecked the economy but failed to achieve its promise of eradicating black money. It abrogated Article 370 and now it is clueless as to what to do with the situation in Kashmir," he said.

"Union minister Amit Shah had declared in Parliament that NRC will be implemented. Faced with public resistance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had to say he does not know what NRC is. Keep up the stir for a little longer, he will start saying he does not know Amit Shah," said Kannan, evoking peals of laughter.

In the course of his speech, Kanhaiya also made the crowds sing after him the National Anthem but skipped a few words towards the end. Participants at the rally were viciously trolled on social media for the slip-up.

Tumakuru, Jan 2: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid respects to the 'Gadduge' (final resting place) of Shivakumara Swamiji at Siddaganga Math, a prominent Lingayat seminary here, and said the Swamiji's work would continue to inspire everyone.

The Swamiji, who was known as the 'Walking God' among his countless followers, had passed away last year at the age of 111. The Prime Minister, who arrived at the Yelahanka Airbase in Bengaluru, went directly to Tumakuru, where the Math is located, by a chopper along with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi and former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda among others. Modi, after offering respects to the 'Gadduge', planted Bilva plant (Aegle marmelos) on the premises of the Math and also laid the foundation for the construction of a museum dedicated to Swamiji here before addressing the gathering, largely comprising students. Speaking on the occasion, Modi said he was feeling blessed to begin 2020 from the sacred land of Siddaganga, but at the same time was feeling the "vacuum" in the absence of Shivakumara Swamiji. "It is rare see the number of people swamiji had inspired during his life time. I'm really fortunate to lay the foundation for the museum in swamiji's memory. Through this museum, his works will continue to inspire generations," he said. Also, Prime Minister remembered Vishwesha Theertha of Udupi's Pejawar Math who passed away recently. Yediyurappa and the present pontiff of the Math Siddalinga Swamiji were among the others present. Known as "trivida dasohi" for his triple sacraments - food, shelter and education - among his followers, Shivakumara swamiji was considered as the incarnation of Basavanna, the 12th-century social reformer, as he accepted all irrespective of their religion or caste. There has been a growing clamour from people of different walks of life, including politicians, for conferring "Bharat Ratna" on the late Swamiji.

After the Swamiji's demise, the then Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy had written to Modi urging him to confer the country's highest civilian order on the late seer.

Opposition Congress on Thursday questioned the Prime Minister about not conferring the"Bharat Ratna" on Shivakumara Swamiji.

Questioning Modi as to why he did not visit Tumakuru when Shivakumara Swamiji of Siddaganga Math passed away, the principal opposition party in the state assembly in a tweet also sought to know why the seer was not conferred with the Bharat Ratna yet, while pointing out that former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had written a letter in this regard in January 2018.

The present seer of the seminary Siddalinga Swamiji presented Modi a silver statue of Shivakumara Swamiji as a memento.
