Reach out to people, Mani Shankar Aiyar tells Congmen

Bengaluru, Nov 16: Senior Congress leader and former Union minister Mani Shankar Aiyar on Tuesday said the party has to come out with an effective strategy to reach out to people to revive itself.aiyar

Speaking after inaugurating a workshop on the working of Panchayat Raj institutions organised by the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayat Raj Sanghatan, he said the party can grow in strength only if the workers reach out to people. An effective strategy is needed for this purpose, he added.

The Congress once had strong roots across the country. But of late, there appears to be a gap between the party and the people. The role of elected representatives of the party at the Panchayat level is important to bridge the gap between the party and people. The elected representatives should interact with the people and respond to their woes, he suggested.

The party workers are active in Karnataka.They should give top priority to strengthen the party. They should keep pace with changing times and adopt technology, he added.

Sir, few congressmen like you foresee the future of the party, at present scenario it looks like your party it self a member of Ruling party yet no any such a protest or demand is issued against the ruling only people like kejriwal and mamata and some left parties raised their voice against ruling Government , keeping in Q for changing note will not make Rahul a mass leader if congress is not come out with new change in its CWC, Tomorrow will be like only remain in memories of old classic films for mass . so better bring new and young blood to CWC and go to mass, in Karnataka People like Poojari and C M Ibrhim and supporters is not worthy to concentrate better to reshuffle the entire team Siddu or wait for Final Goal from Opposition. now the Ba** in your Court Mr Iyer ...

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 19: The CPI(M) will soon launch a nation-wide house-to-house campaign to explain to the people, the 'link' between CAA-NPR-NRC, party general secretary, Sitaram Yechury said on Sunday.

The intense campaign will take place all over the country, he said while briefing the media about the three-day central committee held at Vilapilsala near here.

The central committee also urged the people not to answer the NPR questions.

"The Central committee has called upon the people not to answer any questions concerning the NPR when the enumerators come to their houses...," the left leader said.

New Delhi, May 25: India witnessed the highest ever spike of 6,977 positive cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of COVID-19 to 1,38,845, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

India is now among the top 10 countries in the world regarding the total number of COVID-19 cases.

With 154 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the total number of deaths due to COVID-19 now stands at 4,021 in the country.

Out of the total number of cases, 77,103 are active cases and 57,721 have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra continues to remain the worst affected state with 50,231 COVID-19 cases, followed by Tamil Nadu (16,277), Gujarat (14,056) and Delhi (13,418).

The fourth phase of the nationwide lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of COVID-19 is scheduled to end on May 31.

New Delhi, Jan 16: The Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government on Thursday rejected the mercy plea of Mukesh, one of the convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya case.

The mercy plea was then forwarded to Lieutenant Governor, who has now sent it to Union Ministry of Home Affairs.

The convicts were sentenced to death for raping a 23-year-old woman in a moving bus in the national capital on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012.

The victim, who was later given the name Nirbhaya, had succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Singapore where she had been airlifted for medical treatment.
