Rider crushed under truck at Thokkottu; ganja found in his two-wheeler

Mangaluru, Oct 12: In a gruesome accident, a two-wheeler rider was crushed to death under the wheels of a truck at Thokkottu junction on the outskirts of the city on Thursday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Saleem (30), a resident of KC Road.

The ill-fated two-wheeler was following a speeding truck that was moving towards Talapady from the city.

When the truck driver suddenly reduced its speed the scooter rammed into it from behind.

Rider Saleed died on the spot as his head got crushed under the wheels of truck in spite of wearing the helmet.

According to reports, cops recovered two packets of ganja from the victim’s two-wheeler. It is not yet know whether the victim was carrying ganja or someone else had kept it in the vehicle.

Bengaluru, April 6: The total number of positive cases in Karnataka climbed to 163 after 12 more cases were reported, state government officials said on Monday.

Out of the 12 new cases, three of them have a history of travelling to Delhi.

The tally includes four deaths and 18 people have recovered and discharged.

The total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India crossed the 4,000 mark, mounting to 4,067, said Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.

Byndoor, Jul 16: Byndoor Police Station in Kundapur taluk of Udupi District, has been sealed for the second time in a month, after three personnel including an ASI were tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

All the three including a lady Home Guard have been admitted to the designated Covid Hospital.

Last month the Station was sealed after staff had tested positive.

Uppinangady, Feb 16: Eleven people were injured, when a private bus in which they were travelling, toppled near Kodikal on Sunday, police said.

According to Police, more than 20 people were travelling in the bus towards Puttur from Sakleshpur when the mishap took place.

All the inmates were on their way to attend a wedding.
