Riggae unit lifts Welfare Kerala Kuwait Abbasiya Zonal Soccer Trophy

Fahaheel: The first trophy of the Welfare Kerala Kuwait Abbasiya Zonal Soccer Tournament went to Riggae Unit after it beat Abuhalifa Team by 2.0 in the Knock out League championship Cup final at Fahaheel Souk Sabah Stadium on Friday. From various zones of Welfare Kerala Kuwait 8 teams were participated in the tournament organized by Welfare Kerala Kuwait Abbasiya Zone.

Riggae took control of the league title race as goals from Anas Ameen, Rafeeque Abubacker and Inzamam Nazer inspired the Riggae teams stunning performance. Through out the tournament in careful and dynamic possession game, Team Riggae won the heart and support of the spectators. By demonstrating Tiki-Taka style of fair play Team Riggae also bagged the Best Team Trophy. Abbas from Team Abbasiya declared as best player of the tournament, while Shihab S.V. and Anas Ameen of Team Riggae bagged the best goal keeper trophy and the top scorer trophy respectively.

Welfare Kerala Kuwait President Khaleelurahman gave away the winners trophy to Welfare Riggae Unit and Vice President Sri. Krishna Das presented the runners up trophy to Abuhalifa Team.

Welfare Kerala Kuwait Central committee leaders Krishnadas, Layik Ahmad , Shaukat Valanchery , Vinod Perera, Rashid Khan, Abdul Majeed N., Abdul Rahman K, Girish Wayanad, Jaseel , Rafeeq Babu, Moithu K, and Abbassiya President Mohammed Ashqar distributed the cash prizes, medals and other trophies.

Yasser Karigallathani, Abdulrahman , Haroon, Abdul Vahid , Layik , Aftab controlled the tournament activities and Jaseel Chengalan covered the imaging and ideography of the event.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.
