‘Right-wing activist’ booked for trying to sexually abuse 5-year-old girl

Kasaragod, Oct 26: Police have launched a manhunt to nab youth who allegedly trying to sexually abuse a 5-year-old girl at Kottapara in Panyal village in Kasaragod.

The accused has been identified as Prashanth (30) a truck driver hailing from Pullur, near Kanhangad. He is said to be a right wing activist.

Acting on a complaint lodged by a Childline activist, the Bekal police on Wednesday registered the case against him under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act- 2012.

The complaint alleged that the youth had tried to sexually abuse the minor girl by luring her into an auto-rickshaw the other day, following which the girl’s parents approached the Childline office.

Mangaluru, Mar 30: Indira Canteens and Kadiri Manjunatha Temple here have started distributing food packets to the poor, stranded labours, destitute and needy in the wake of the COVID-19 lockdown.

''We have prepared over 2,000 food packets in the morning. The same number will be prepared in the afternoon and night for distribution," said Prabhakar Shetty from Indira canteen at Urwastore in Mangaluru on Monday.

"The MCC teams come and collect food for distribution among the poor, beggars and destitute," he added.

Belagavi, Mar 13: Former Karnataka Minister and Senior Congress leader H K Patil on Thursday alleged that the ruling BJP government headed by Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has shown negligence towards completion of the irrigation projects in North-Karnataka region.

Mr. Patil said that no sufficient provision was made in the Budget for 2020-21 presented by Yediyurappa on March 5.

North Karnataka region people, farmers, and leaders expected more fund allocation to complete the pending and ongoing irrigation projects, but they are disappointed.

Udupi, Jan 7: Eshapriya Teertha Swamiji, who was appointed as the junior Swamiji of Admar Math, would be ascending the 'Paryaya Peeta' for the first time on January 18, Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji of Admar Math said.

Speaking to the media at Admar Moola Math at Admar near Padubidri on Monday night Vishwapriya Teertha Swamiji of Admar Math said, 'I had performed my first Paryaya in 1988-90 with the help of Shri Vishwapriya Teertharu.

'The second Paryaya was performed independently by the order of Shri Vibudhesha Teertharu in 2004-06.
