‘Right-wing activist’ booked for trying to sexually abuse 5-year-old girl

Kasaragod, Oct 26: Police have launched a manhunt to nab youth who allegedly trying to sexually abuse a 5-year-old girl at Kottapara in Panyal village in Kasaragod.

The accused has been identified as Prashanth (30) a truck driver hailing from Pullur, near Kanhangad. He is said to be a right wing activist.

Acting on a complaint lodged by a Childline activist, the Bekal police on Wednesday registered the case against him under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act- 2012.

The complaint alleged that the youth had tried to sexually abuse the minor girl by luring her into an auto-rickshaw the other day, following which the girl’s parents approached the Childline office.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: A woman employee at the Vikasa Soudha, next to Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat, was tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Hence the authorities sealed the Food Department offices, which was in the ground floor of the building.

Employees of Vidhana Soudha and Vikasa Soudha were shocked after learning that one of their colleagues tested positive for the dreaded killer coronavirus.

Byndoor, Jul 16: Byndoor Police Station in Kundapur taluk of Udupi District, has been sealed for the second time in a month, after three personnel including an ASI were tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday.

All the three including a lady Home Guard have been admitted to the designated Covid Hospital.

Last month the Station was sealed after staff had tested positive.

Mangaluru, Feb 13: Jnandev Kamath, former President of erstwhile Mangalore Stock Exchange Limited died late last night in a private hospital in the city.

He was 65 and is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Jnandev Kamath was an alumnus of SDM College of Law and Business Management. 

He was one the founding members of Mangalore Stock Exchange Limited. He was an avid sportsman, an accomplished cricketer, a champion rallyist and golf coach. 

He often played for Pentlandpet Sports Association (PPSA) in his younger days.
