Riyadh: DKMO to host family get-together on October 3

Riyadh, Sept 23: Dakshana Karnataka Muslim Okkuta (DKMO - Riyadh) , a prominent social organization of non-residential kannadigas in Saudi Arabia is organizing the Mega Family Get Together  – 2019 on 3rd October Thursday starting from 9 PM at Taqat Vue Resort, Sulay in Riyadh.

This program is organized to bring all Karnataka based NRI’s into a single platform through religious, socio-cultural events and games activities, a release said.

The DKMO is set up in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, with an intention to support the family of deceased NRI’s in case of sudden death of their breadwinners.

In the Past, DKMO had handled 12 such cases across Dakshina Karnataka. The main aim of the organisations is to support the NRI’s in Saudi Arabia. Currently, DKMO has 1000+ NRI members who serve as the main backbone of this organization.

Initially, DKMO was formed with an aim to support deceased NRI family through FRF (Family Relief Fund) scheme.

But today DKMO has expanded its field of activities. It helps to provide Financial Loan for needy Members, Air tickets for Stranded NRI’s, General Relief Fund, Microloan to support self-employment in India and support for Anti Dowry Campaign, the release said.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
