Riyadh: Over 1000 take part in DKMO’s annual family get-together

Riyadh: The Dakshina Karnataka Muslim Okkoota (DKMO), Riyadh, conducted its annual family get-together in a grand manner on Nov 12 at Al Rushd Resort in Riyadh. The event attracted around 1500 non-resident Kannadigas including children.

Yousuf Saqafi Baithar inaugurated the programme which was presided over by DKMO president Abdul Azeez Bajpe. DKMO general secretary Fazlur Rahman Kolkar, Salauddin Quraishi, DKMO Treasurer Abbas Uchil were present.

In his inaugural address Yousuf Saqafi highlighted DKMO’s charity schemes. He also spoke on the significance of the charity in Islam.

Chief guest of the event Salahuddin Quraishi, addressing the students, gave tips how to help the society without earning by sharing the knowledge and skills with those needy people.

General Secretary Fazlur Rahman Kolkar read out the activities and special schemes of DKMO.

Special events like Islamic and general topic quiz were also held. Winners of five teams participated in the quiz are IFF, Khidma Foundation, DKSC, JF & Panorama. IFF emerged as Winners & runners up are shared with JF and DKSC.

Sports and games were conducted under the leadership of Haneef NS and Shameer Mangaluru. In tug-of-war IFF Riyadh emerged winners and Mango Boys became runners. In volleyball match Bantwal Friends were winners and Bankal Friends were runners. In the push-ups competition Shafi Vamanjoor bagged the first prize and Muzaffar Bantwal was runner up.

Team from McDonalds entertained the children with some spot games and face paintings & were given lots of Gifts & Free Coupons for all the participants.

Free Medical Camp was conducted by Kadesiya Medical Center led by Santhosh Shetty M.D. (KMC) most of the Guests benefited by this camp.

Separate games for the children and women, Islamic quiz with some spot games also conducted by the ladies team.

As part of DKMO anti dowry campaign, a song composed by Shareef Nirmunje was launched.

Basheer Talapady welcome the guests and compered. The programme began with Quran recitation by Master Rashad bin Dawood. Muzaffar Ali proposed the vote of thanks. Food was served under the leadership of G.K. Shiekh Kulur, Musthaq Yermal and their team from Al Mas Restaurant Riyadh.

Manama: Kannada Sangha Bahrain President Mr. Pradeep Shetty and Vice President of Bahrain's prestigious KHK HEROES Foundation Mohammed Mansoor on Monday, May 11, met The Second Secretary (Consular & CW) of the Embassy of India, Bahrain Mr. P. K. Chowdhury in the Indian Embassy. 

The situation, problems and relief of Indians and Kannadigas residing in Bahrain during the COVID 19 Pandemic was discussed in detail. The distribution of food (dry ration) kits, as well as those seeking repatriation, was also discussed in the meeting.

When asked about the repatriation of distressed Kannadigas, the Second Secretary said that though the number of Kannadigas who wish to return home is not much compared to the rest of the states, still Embassy is compiling all the information and will do the needful soon. 

Mr. Shetty and Mr. Mansoor told the Second Secretary that those who are in problem can contact them and they are ready to do their best.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.
