Rizwan Ahmed elected president of Qatar unit of Highland Islamic Forum

Dohan, Jan 19: Rizwan Ahmed from Mangaluru was unanimously elected president of the Qatar unit of the Highland Islamic Forum during its annual general body meeting (AGM) held at Doha, Qatar yesterday.

The AGM was started with Quran recitation by Faraz. Programme was chaired by the outgoing president Suhaib Ahmed.

Fahim Naufal Ahmed welcomed the attendees and gave brief information about HIF QATAR formation and compered the programme.

Suhaib Ahmed welcomed the gathering and presented a brief power point presentation about H.I.F Qtar and its activities from its inception. He thanked the executive committee and all members of the H.I.F Qatar for their tremendous support during his tenure and requested the gathering to extend the same support to the new committee.

Sheikh Faisel presented the financial report. Mohammed Faisel proposed vote of thanks.

The new managing committee elected during the AGM unanimously as follows:

1. President – Rizwan Ahmed
2. General Secretary - Shafakath Hussain
3. Treasurer – Shaikh Faisel

Indian Social Forum helps perform last rites of TN expat who died in Qatar

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Living with cornavirus: Indian Social Forum, Dammam holds webinar

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.
