Robert Vadra sells land, close 4 companies in Rajasthan, Haryana

November 6, 2014

Robert VadraNew Delhi, Nov 6: Days after the new BJP government in Haryana announced that Robert Vadra's land deals will be probed, it has come to light that the son-in-law of Congress president Sonia Gandhi is now winding down his businesses.

As per the documents provided by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Vadra, who launched six companies in Rajasthan and Haryana, has closed four of them.

The companies that have been shut down include Lifeline Agrotech Private Limited, Greenwave Agro Private Limited, Rightline Agriculture Private Limited and Primetime Agro Private Limited.

According to DNA, the remaining two companies - Future Infra Agro Private Limited and Best Seasons Agro Private Limited - are in the process of closing down. All the six companies were incorporated in 2012.

The daily reported that Vadra began winding down his companies soon after the BJP-led NDA government came to power. As per the Ministry of Corporate Affairs records, all the companies were active till May this year, DNA further noted.

The six companies Vadra closed are apparently agro-based and may be dealing with land transactions and agricultural technology, as the names suggest. None of these companies have filed annual returns or balance sheets since inception. Vadra holds the position of managing director in all six companies, reported DNA.

The daily also noted that Vadra is selling land in Haryana and Rajasthan fearing rigorous monitoring by the state and central governments.

The report comes days after Vadra snapped at a TV crew on being questioned about his controversial land deals in Haryana.

Vadra thrice asked the reporter "Are you serious?" and once "Are you nuts?" before pushing away the journalist's microphone and calling him an "idiot". He then walked away, followed by his guards.

Congress defended Vadra, who the party said was a private citizen.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Sambit Patra said: "It was the sheer frustration of Robert Vadra that became manifested as inappropriate behaviour against a journalist.

"Vadra was the one who had called India a 'Banana Republic' and we Indians as 'mango people'. It is time we make him realise that India is no more a Banana Republic which was ruled by the first family of the Congress."
