Jammu, Mar 17: The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) today supported the demand for deportation of illegal migrants from Myanmar and Bangladesh, saying their presence in Jammu and Kashmir posed a security threat to the country.

We do not consider them (Rohingyas and Bangladeshis) as refugees as they are foreigners and have entered in our country illegally, RSS Prant Sanghchalk, Brig (Retd) Suchait Singh told reporters here.

Singh, who was flanked by Prant Kariwah Parshotam Dadichi, said the state and the central governments should identify the illegally settled foreigners and sent them back.

Why should we tolerate them when they pose a security threat to the nation as well as the state, he said.

Criticising the previous UPA government at the centre and National Conference-Congress coalition government in the state for allowing them to settle down in Jammu, he said they are totally responsible for the present situation(agitation over the deportation of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis in Jammu).

What is their motive behind settling them in Jammu is best known to them We see their presence as a threat and want their early eviction, the former Army officer said.

Dadichi said there are about 300 shakhas in the state and we are waiting for the day when the shakhas are opened in Kashmir valley as well.

We are waiting for the day when the people in the valley will come forward and reach us to open our units. We are sure that day is not far, he said, adding we want peace to return to the valley as soon as possible.

Dadichi said RSS does not believe in propaganda of its activities. We are already working in Kashmir with like-minded people but there are no shakhas as yet. Singh said national building work was being carried out through 277 shakhas, mostly in Jammu region.

We have Shakhas in Ladakh as well and this year so far 666 youths have joined the organisation, he said.

The state in-charge of RSS said 723 activists received training in Sangh Shikhshan vergs (camps). Referring to the three-day Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (ABPS) at Nagpur, he said 18 RSS workers from Jammu and Kashmir attended the meet from March 9.

The meet unanimously passed a resolution to highlight the need to protect and promote Indian languages, he said, urging the state government, policy makers, NGOs and individuals to protect and promote local languages.

Ahmedabad, May 12: The Gujarat High Court on Tuesday declared state BJP minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama's election in 2017 as void on grounds of malpractice and manipulation.

Justice Paresh Upadhyay cancelled Bhupendrasinh Chudasama's election in an order passed on a petition filed by Congress candidate Ashwin Rathod, challenging the BJP leader's victory from Dholka constituency by a margin of 327 votes in the 2017 Gujarat Assembly polls.

In his election petition, Ashwin Rathod alleged that Bhupendrasinh Chudasama indulged in "corrupt practice and breach of many of the mandatory instructions of the Election Commission, at various stages of the election process, more particularly at the time of counting of votes".

Bhupendrasinh Chudasama currently holds charge of the education, law and justice, legislative and parliamentary affairs, and some other departments in the Vijay Rupani government.

New Delhi, Jan 31: The central government has decided that pensioners' life certificates will be collected from their doorstep, saving them from hassles of visiting pension disbursing banks.

The service will be charged an amount not exceeding Rs 60, according to a statement issued on Thursday by the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW).

Every year a pensioner is required to give proof of him being alive to banks in order to ensure continued pension. These certificates can be submitted online or by visiting the bank.

"The department has taken a landmark step to make life easier for senior citizens to submit their annual life certificate for continued pension," it said.

Directions have been issued to all pension disbursing banks to send SMS or emails to all their pensioners on October 24, November 1, November 15 and November 25 every year reminding them to submit their annual life certificates by November 30, the statement said.

"The bank in addition will also ask such pensioners through SMS/email as to whether they are interested in submission of life certificate through a chargeable doorstep service, the charge not exceeding Rs 60, it said.

The department for stricter monitoring and in order to ensure that no pensioners are left out has also directed the banks to make an exception list on December 1 every year of those pensioners who fail to submit their life certificate and issue another SMS or email to them for submitting it.

The Central Pension Processing Cells (CPPC) of the pension disbursing banks shall now be duty bound to submit a report to the DoPPW in January, February and March.

The report will indicate the total number of pensioners who have not given their life certificate along with a breakup of the certificates submitted physically and through digital means, the statement said.

This is a landmark step from the side of the central government showing due care for pensioners, it said.

This step is in addition to the order issued in July last year, vide which all pensioners aged 80 years and above have been given an exclusive window to submit their life certificate w.e.f. 1st October every year instead of 1st November every year, the statement added.
