Roshan Rodrigues elected president of Karnataka NRI Forum-Jeddah

Jeddah: The seventh annual general body meeting of the Karnataka Non Resident Indian Forum (KNRI)-Jeddah was held recently in Jeddah. Mr. Roshan Rodrigues of Mangalore was unanimously elected as the President of the Forum. KNRI is a nonprofit social organization in Saudi Arabia which represents entire Karnataka State and strives to help needy Kannadigas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and India.

In his opening speech Mr. Roshan Rodrigues thanked all the members of the Forum for believing in him and accepting his leadership. He highlighted that KNRI is one family and our goal is to take care of our all needy Kannadigas. He offered his congratulations on behalf of the form to the first student from Dharwad district, adopted by the forum for completing her studies for her selection in a campus interview by one of the leading software exporting companies. He also reminded the aims and objectives of KNRI forum and appealed to struggle for achieving those goals by providing financial and social support to needy Kannadigas. He requested all committee members to perform their duties with “Than Man Dhan” strategy and appealed to the seniors to guide him to perform these tasks smoothly.

A committee of 29 members was formed. Newly elected office bearers are Roshan Rodriguez - President; Manzoor Ahmed (Hassan) and Sabu Chandran (Bangalore) - Vice Presidents; Syed Nasir Khursheed (Gubarga) - General Secretary; Yashwanth Amin (Mangalore) - Joint Secretary; Aijaz Ahmed (Shimoga)- Meeting coordinator; Sri Harsha (Bangalore) - Treasurer; Habib Rahaman (Udupi) and Syed Haseebuddin (Bangalore) - Joint Treasurers; Niaz Ahmed (Mysore) – Press and Public Relation Secretary; Mohammed Saif (Mysore) - Cultural Secretary; Mohammed Kaleem (Raychur), Mohsin Khan (Bidar) and Pravin Netekar (Sirsi-Kharwar) - Joint Cultural Secretaries; Peter Mascarenhans Udupi - Sports Secretary; Arif Shimoga - Joint Sport Secretary; Shaikh Saoud (Udupi) - IT Coordinator; Mukarram Khan (Bangalore) - Membership Coordinator; Mohammed Mansoor,(Mangalore) Vasu Manchegowda (Mandya) and Krish Jangal (Hubli) - Advisory Council Members; and Mohammed Arif (Udupi), Alok Pattar( Hubli), Mohammed Saheb,(Karkala) Imtiaz Ahmed,(Shimoga) Syed Shakeel Ahmed,(Bangalore) Momin Mohammed Iylas (Bhatkal), Faizee Razak Sheik, (Mangalore) Mohammed Saleem Khaleefa (Gulbarga) were elected as Executive Members.

S M Jafar conducted the election session and advised the new committee to come up with ambitious plans for the welfare of Karnataka residents in particular and the Indian community in general. Mohammed Mansoor congratulated the newly elected body and advised them to work with positive spirit and elevate the forum to a higher level.

Vasu Manchegowda outlined the KNRI forum’s vision and urged Kannadigas to play a vital role to reach and help poor and needy people. Outgoing President Krish Jangal congratulated the new team and said social work demands time, energy and dedication. He said God will reward for serving the community, and there is the added benefit developing managerial skills.

Secretary,Nasir Khursheed described this forum as family members and requested members to “keep the same spirit of unity which is our identity.”

Yashwanth Amin requested Kannadigas residingin Jeddah to feel free and join the forum. He informed that they can be reached through email [email protected]

The program was compered by Niaz Ahmed (Mysore) and Sabu Chandran delivered the vote of thanks, he specially thanked the Indian Consulate for their tremendous support towards the KNRI Forum in Jeddah.

Dammam: President of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Mr.Wasim Rabbani urged immediate intervention of Indian government to help Non Residential Indians who are in trouble due to corona pandemic in Saudi Arabia.

He said in a press rease that expatriate Indians are in concern  as number of corona infected people and  deaths are increasing in danger level.

Hea said, "the Saudi health minister's statement a few days ago indicates that the situation in Saudi needs to be taken more seriously with precautionary methods. There are concerns among expatriates because the number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths reported in various provinces are increasing at an alarming rate."

"Saudi Government and Health Ministry are taking excellent precautionary measures, however, in the coming days expect to see the number of cases to increase in Saudi Arabia. The Indian government needs to take diplomatic and immediate intervention to ensure the treatment of Indian expatriates considering the number of effected people increasing", He said.

He also urged that the Embassy and the Government of India should ensure qaurantiane faculty for Indian expatriates and arrange special low cost flights to bring back expatriates who would like to return home country.

" Government of India and Indian embassy need to intervene immediately to ensure that the quarantine system is in place for Indian expatriates as the facilities in the rooms where the residents are staying together are very limited. There should also be a mechanism to organize low-cost flight services for expatriates who are ready to go home. The government system should also be able to accommodate the expatriates in special quarantine areas in hometown as soon they arrive in India", he urged.

Riyadh: On the occasion of 71st Republic Day of India, Karavali Welfare Association Riyadh (KWAR) conducted BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN on the 17th Jan 2020 at KING SAUD Universities King Khalid University Hospital, Riyadh. 

This is one of KWARs Prestigious Humanitarian EVENT every year, as we are indebted to serve the society for a Great Cause.

The campaign began at 08:30 am with a theme of Republic Day Celebrations and went on till 3:30 pm. Irrespective of Friday being a weekend and holiday people came in good numbers to donate Blood. The Hospital Staff, The Doctors and the Blood Bank Technicians and others at King Khalid University Hospital were more than happy to serve all those who have participated in this campaign.

KWAR Thanks all the Hospital Staff especially Mr. Salman Baqsh for his introduction of KWAR to Blood Bank and all the arrangements for this campaign, without his support this could not been done. Dr. Zafar Mahmoud for his wonderful support during the campaign and Mr. Abdullah Al Saman for his outstanding Hospitality throughout the campaign. KWAR also thanks all the donors who came all the way voluntarily for this Great Humanitarian Cause. As a token of gesture KWAR awarded Certificate of Appreciation to all the participants.

And KWAR would like to thank specially Mr. Nasir, Representative of Blood Helpline Karnataka, who encouraged many donors and made them to actively participate and donate blood for this noble cause.

KWAR’s core activities was on display on the screen, with most of the Committee members were present at the venue to serve the donors. KWAR thanks all the members, the Executive committee and all those who took their valuable time to organize this event successfully and thank all our well-wishers who supported us for the BLOOD DONATION CAMPAIGN. We in KWAR wish every Donor and the participants a healthy life ahead, and we need everyone's active participation in all our Future events.

Jeddah: Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF) under the patronage of consulate General of India Jeddah related to welfare activities connected to Indian hajj pilgrims in particular and welfare functions of Indian community at large, organized Quran recitation competition for Indian students of age 10 to 14 residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Grand Finale was conducted Live online via Zoom virtual conference on Friday 15th May 2020 at 14:45 Hrs.

The Consul General Of India, Jeddah and Vice Patron IPWF, H.E.Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Shiekh graced the Grand Finale as honorable Chief Guest. The HOC, Consul Hajj and Director IPWF - Mr. Y Sabir attended as Guest of Honor, while the ever-exuberant President of the forum Mr. Ayyub Hakeem lead the event. A large number of Indian dignitaries and media personnel also joined this live event.

Judges panel included three experienced youths. First judge was the Prominent Hafiz and one of the best Qaris of his calibre, Hafiz Ismail Yahya Bilal, well educated in Qirat from Umm Al Qura University Makkah and currently persuing Masters. He also holds many honors and accolades from various international competitions and appreciations from Imaams of Haramain. The other judge, Hafiz Abdullah A.Mateen Usmani, first position winner, a record for being youngest Indian to win Jeddah Quran competition 2018 under patronage of Jeddah Governor.  Hafiz Farhan Abdur Rab, was the third judge, an Engineer by profession, as well as current Treasurer at IPWF.

Winners; Humeirah Masood Kazi and Furqan Mohammed Vasi Ahmed won Gold position. Maryam Jaffar and Adil Abdul Rasheed ranked Silver while Khatija Ehtesham Ali and Nadeem Noorisha ranked Bronze. Consolation prizes were given to Aamina Mustafa and Mohammed Ahsan Ali. The event was organized to encourage and boost the ambitions of young generation and inspring them to bring out their best in Quran Recitation

While speaking at the event Chief Guest H.E.Mr. Md.Noor Rahman Sheikh appreciated the social works of IPWF for Indian Community, praised the brilliant performance of students, He said it gives us great pleasure seeing that all participants, Judges and Jury members are Indians, he said the recitation of the children was fantabulous, and congratulated to the winners and participants. Chief Guest further said President Ayyub Hakeem and his IPWF Team deserves to be appreciated for their relentless efforts for this Noble cause, even in this period when the world is observing lockdown.

HOC, Consul Hajj Mr. Y Sabir appreciated IPWF team for organizing this virtual competition, he said it’s really amazing that 111 students registered to participate for the contest, he appreciated the hard work of children and efforts of parents for preparing their children.

Mr. Hakeem welcomed all and informed that this competition received overwhelming response from Indian community locally and internationally in short time since its launch was just couple of days earlier. Which compliments events Objective to encourage children “mainly Indians residing in Saudi Arabia” especially during the month of Quran “Ramadan” and lockdown period #COVID-19. 

40 contestants made it to the Semifinals, and 15 Students reached the Grand Finale, 2 young children were given consolation for their enthusiastic recitation. 

The President also appreciated his IPWF Team for unwavering support in preparation of this event.  He thanked the Chief Guest, HE Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh and Guest of Honor Mr. Y Sabir for gracing this glorious competition. He Thanked the audience and announced that all contestants will be awarded appreciation “digital certificate’

Syed Nasir Khursheed anchored the program, and entertained with beautiful Urdu couplets. Farhan Abdur Rab and Abdul Rahman Poyakkara conducted the contest flawlessly on time. Farhan, concluded the event with Vote of Thanks and soleful dua.
