Rotary Vandana Awards presented to Salumara Thimmakka, Ramakrishna Mission

Mangaluru April 27: Eminent Environmentalist Salumara Thimmakka and Ramkrishna Mission have been conferred with the Rotary Annual State Level prestigious “Vandana Award” at a function held on 26.04.2019 at Ocean Pearl Hotel.  The award is conferred on them in recognition of their exemplary achievements and in appreciation of their invaluable contributions, in the field of Environment protection, Empowerment and Swach Mangalore Movement . The award is jointly instituted by Rotary Club of Mangalore Central and Rotaract Club of Mangalore City.

Rotary District Asst. Governor Rtn. Kiran Prasad Rai graced the occasion as chief guest and presented the Awards to the achievers and congratulated them. In his address and lauded the community services of Rotary Club. He also released clubs weekly bulletin “Centor”.

Chairman of the Award Selection Committee Dr. Devdas Rai in his introductory address revealed that the Annual Vandana Award is Conferred on achievers and it is a part of clubs vocational service project. He Congratulated Salumara Thimmakka and Ramakrishna Mission  on their unique achievements in the field of Environment Protection and Empowerment.

Responding to the felicitations the awardees expressed their  gratitude to the Rotary Club and said that they deemed it as a privilege and honour to accept the Awards, which is very valuable among the awards they have won.

President Rtn. Santhosh Shet presided over the function.  Secretary Joel Lobo presented the Report, District Rotaract Representative Rtr. Ganesh was present, Rotaract Club Secretary Rtr. Sheldon Crasta proposed a vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, Apr 4: Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner (DC) Sindhu B Rupesh in an official reminder has ordered milk unions to disburse about 5,000 litres of milk to residents of notified and non-notified slums, construction labourers and migrant labourers and their families in shelters in the district.

A decision regarding the free distribution of milk to such needy families was taken in a meeting by the chief minister on April 1.

The DC has ordered cooperative milk unions in the district to distribute milk to such families from April 4 till April 14.

Mangaluru, Mar 14: In a bid to prevent the coronavirus spread in the city, Mangaluru City Corporation on Saturday disallowed the street vendors to continue their business activities until further notice.

MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde, in an order released today, warned that any vehicles, carts or trolleys that would be seen violating the order will be towed away.

The development comes in the wake of state wide ban on all shopping malls. In Mangaluru too all the malls remained shut today.

Bengaluru, Mar 15: Karnataka government has said that as of now six cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the state, including one person who died.

"Till date six COVID-19 cases have been reported in the state including one death. The 5 Coronavirus positive cases are in isolation at the designated hospital in Bengaluru," the Karnataka government said on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Health Department of Karnataka on Sunday said that all the family members and other contacts of the 76-year-old man who died of coronavirus in Kalaburagi are being monitored closely.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed that India's tally in the number of positive cases for coronavirus has reached 107 on Sunday.
