New Delhi, Jun 25: Come August, an institute associated with the RSS will start a training course for "well-meaning" would-be politicians of any party.

The Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini (RMP) will offer a nine-month residential course in leadership, politics and governance on its campus located in Uttan in the Thane district of Maharashtra.

The course is open to anyone with a bachelor's degree -- aspiring politicians, civil servants, journalists and others, an RMP administrator said.

The institute will train a batch of 40 students to begin with, charging a fee of Rs 2.5 lakh, which would include expenses for study tours, hostel and mess services. The deadline for applying for the course commencing on August 1 is June 30.

"A lot of politicians today unfortunately don't know that they don't know," BJP vice president and RMP vice chairman Vinay Sahasrabuddhe said, referring to lack of awareness about issues. "We would like to do away with this situation. We would like to empower and enrich political enthusiasts with knowledge, understanding and information. Therefore, this course," he said.

Sahasrabuddhe said students were free to join any party after the course.

"We rise above ideologies. Our aim is to help produce good, well-meaning politicians," he said.
It will be in the "interest" of democracy if the student undertook programmes that helped the people. It will also be in our interest then," he added.

The leader made the remarks during a recent interaction organised by the BJP's 'Good Governance' department at the institute, where events are often held for party workers.

He added the RMP in the past had trained activists of parties such as the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party, Congress and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena under its old 10-day 'Netritva Sadhana" programme -- the precursor to the new leadership course.

Sahasrabuddhe said the RMP was also open to leaders from other political parties delivering lectures on relevant issues to its students.

"Instead of asking any professor to teach communism, we will invite (CPI-M general secretary) Sitaram Yechury directly. We will be more than happy to welcome him, there is no issue," he added.
Sahasrabuddhe, however, said the ideological identity of the institute's administrators was "very clear" and that they were not apologetic about it.

Devendra Pai, executive head, academic programme at the RMP, said the programme comprises classroom lectures by politicians, social activists, administrators and journalists.

In addition to this, there will be field/study tours to gram panchayats, zilla parishads, municipal corporations, assembly, NGOs, CSR projects, tribal villages in Maharashtra and Parliament.

The RMP will also offer students internship with elected representatives to help them understand how leaders work.

Kalaburagi, Mar 5: Kalaburagi Police has issued a second notice to AIMIM leader Waris Pathan, for his controversial remark, directing him to appear before the Investigation Officer on March 8 and give his statement.

Earlier, Kalaburagi Police Commissioner MM Nagaraj said that the police had served notice to Pathan and asked him to appear on February 29 before Investigation Officer.

On February 20, while addressing an anti-CAA rally at Kalaburagi, Pathan had said, "time has now come for us to unite and achieve freedom. Remember we are 15 crore but can dominate over 100 crores."

However, Pathan later took back his words and had said he had not targeted any community but had spoken against members of some organisations.

"If any of my words have hurt someone, I take them back as I am a true Indian," he had said.

Bengaluru, Apr 15: Police on Wednesday conducted surprise raids at nearly 120 shops in Bengaluru following complaints of black marketing and sale of foodgrains above the MRP rate.

Sandip Patil, Joint Commissioner of Police, Crime, Bengaluru in a tweet said that action has been initiated against these shopkeepers.

Though the government has maintained the supply chain of essential items, few shopkeepers have used the lockdown opportunity to charge higher prices for essential items.

Need tough punishment.

Instead of helping with lesser price, troubling the people. These are cruels.

Bengaluru, Jul 16: Rattled by the spurt in Covid-19 positive cases, a Karnataka minister on Wednesday said only god would save the people from coronavirus pandemic.

"Only god has to save us from the virus or the people should be made aware of the infection so that they wear mask and maintain social distancing," state Health Minister B Sriramulu told reporters in Chitradurga, 205-km northwest of Bengaluru.

Noting that the infection does not differentiate between rich and poor, police, doctors, politicians or legislators, Sriramulu said the communicable disease could rise to alarming level in the ensuing two months, as the cases were rising daily the world over.

"Who can control coronavirus? In the present situation, only god has to save us. Otherwise, the people should become aware of its (virus) consequences. If we have made mistakes, we are ready to face punishment for them," said Sriramulu, who is the ruling BJP's legislator from the Molakalmuru reserved assembly segment in the district.

Refuting the opposition Congress charge that the cases were rising in the state due to negligence by ministers, officials and legislators, Sriramulu said Karnataka was performing better than other states till the cases began to steadily rise since unlock started and the people were moving in violation of the guidelines.

A record 3,176 cases were reported from across the southern state during the day, taking the Covid tally to a whopping 47,253, including 27,853 active cases after 18,466 were discharged, with 1,076 during the day, while 928 succumbed to the virus, with 87 in the last 24 hours.

In Bengaluru, which is under 9-day lockdown since Tuesday night till July 22 morning, 1,975 positive cases were registered, taking its tally to 22,944, including 17,051 active after 5,455 were discharged so far, with 463 during the day, while 437 died of the infection, with 60 in the last 24 hours.
