Thiruvananthapuram, Aug 24: A 30-year-old RSS activist, accused in 2016 Anil Faisal murder case, was hacked to death in Kerala's Malappuram on Thursday morning, according to reports.

Vipin, who was out on bail, was attacked near Pulinchode at around 7 am and the police found his body with serious injuries on a roadside. He was then rushed to Tirur's government hospital where he was declared dead.

Another accused in the case, Thayyil Lijeesh, was attacked by an unknown gang on 2 August in Parappanangad. The RSS had organised a protest rally, alleging conspiracy behind the murder attempt, The Times of India reported.

Faisal alias Anil Kumar was brutally hacked to death on 19 November, 2016. He had reportedly been receiving threats after he converted to Islam six months before his death. The motive behind the coldblooded murder of neo-convert was to prevent the spread of Islam, according to police. However, more than a dozen family members of Faisal embraced Islam after the murder.

Police later arrested eight RSS men, including Faisal's brother-in-law and another relative, who had threatened to kill him if he did not revert to his old faith.

A tense atmosphere is prevailing in the area following Vipin's murder. The government has sent additional forces to deal with any fallout of the murder.

Mallapuram was in the news recently after Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir alleged that mass conversions are taking place in the district.

"There is a big center...that center is in Malappuram district,"  the minister said while adding, "Conversions take place there and in a month, about 1,000 people are converted. There is a report that Hindus and Christians are being converted to Muslims."

Bengaluru, Feb 14: A 31 -year-old Bhojpuri dancer and another girl were rescued from human traffickers after the former alerted city police on landing at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) on Tuesday. They were to be received by a woman named Preethi at the airport.

The dancer had been told she was supposed to perform a few stage shows in the city, which has a significant Bhojpuri-speaking population. But when she realised she is likely to be pushed into flesh trade, she raised an alarm.

The woman, Radha (name changed), is a mother of four children and the lone breadwinner of the family. A few months ago, Radha came in contact with a woman named Soniya in New Delhi during a dance performance. Last month, Soniya got in touch with Radha and offered to pay Rs 40,000 per month if she performed in Bengaluru.

Radha agreed and was sent to Bengaluru from Chandigarh along with the other girl. During the journey, she learnt she was supposed to do more than just perform on stage. A shocked Radha informed the Central Industrial Security Force personnel manning KIA that she feared being pushed into prostitution. KIA police were informed and the women were rescued. Preethi was arrested.

Bengaluru, Feb 23: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said that several "anti-national organisations" were misusing the platform of anti-CAA protests.

"We have taken serious note of it and have started an investigation. Several anti-national organisations are misusing the platform of anti-CAA protests and many people are trying to take political advantage of this situation," he told the media on Sunday.

Gowda said that the government is "very serious" about the issue. "We are already working towards this. Both the state and Centre are together investigating into this," he said and added, "We will ensure that we cut this and will not allow this to grow. We will investigate the organisers of the event as well."

"If you are inviting such people (alleged anti-national elements), it means that you either know about it or that you are indirectly encouraging such things. In such situations, the organisers too will be acted upon," he stressed.
