S M Azhar elected KKMA Karnataka branch president

Kuwait: The Karnataka branch of the Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA), the largest social service organization of Indian expats in Kuwait, having total 17,000 member strength, convened its annual general body meeting on December 7, 2018 at Salmiya SIMS auditorium.  Mr S M Azhar was unanimously elected as the new president for two-years (2019 – 2020) in the meeting held under the supervision of Firoz C, Election officer of KKMA central branch.

The meeting commenced with a beautiful recitation of the Holy Quran by Moulvi Munib Mushtaq. Karnataka Branch Senior leader and Central Zonal Treasurer Mr. Abdul Hameed Mulki delivered the welcome address and highlighted the various social and charitable achievements and activities of KKMA such as Family Benefit Scheme (FBS), Educational Scholarship Program (ESP), Kidney Dialysis Centers (KDC), Medical Assistance Program (MAP) and Housing Improvement Program (HIP).

He also highlighted the achievements of their HIGHLY RENOWED  Magnet team. The objective of Magnet is to visit the poor patients, admitted in various hospitals in Kuwait and provide them with financial as well as moral support. And help them to get better medical facilities. This programme has a dedicated volunteer’s team who will also assist in the documentation and repatriation of Human Corpse to their respective destination in India irrespective of caste & creed.

KKMA Vice Chairman Mr. Hamza Mustafa Payyanoor in his inaugural speech applauded the contribution of Karnataka branch in community service and social welfare activities.

KKMA Patron Mr Sagheer Trikaripur addressed the full packed audience of around 450 guests, and HIGHLIGHTED the various social projects, which KKMA has executed successfully during the last 17 years. He said that, to achieve extraordinary things a person does not have to be extraordinarily gifted, the success is available to anyone (poor or rich) who will learn a few simple principles and consistently put them into practice. He also highlighted the future program of “Pravasi Mithra” under which the families of KKMA members will also be included.

Branch Vice President Mr. Nazeer Bolar, illustrated an annual report detailing about the past two-year’s activities of the branch. The comprehensive finance report was presented by Branch Senior leader and Central Committee CFC Mr. Sayed Rafik.

The outgoing president Mr. Abdul Jabbar appreciated the team and thanked them for their selfless services rendered in charitable activities and mentioned the programmes and schemes implemented during his tenure.

The newly elected president Mr. S.M Azhar in his address highlighted the opportunity provided by KKMA for charitable works, and requested the youths to come forward to lead the committee and community to reach out more community members and to do more social service, and advised that KKMA is the right platform to do the charity works which will be rewarded by Almighty Allah here and hearafter. 

Chief guest of the day Mr. S.M. Farooq , (KKMA Karnataka State President) who came all the way from Mangalore,  in his keynote address, highlighted the importance of being in KKMA and changes he has transformed in his life as a KKMA leader.

The Guest of Honor – Mr S.M. Basheer, former President of KKMA Karnataka Br and the First President of BCCI (Beary’s Chamber of Commerce and Industries Dubai Chapter) was honored with a momento with gratitude for his selfless service to the community and as a whole to our society.

S.M Basheer, in his address highlighted the importance of social service and how KKMA as a platform provides great opportunity to serve humanity at large which in return is a good preparation for the life hereafter. He has applauded KKMA for being a role model for many organizations.

The Branch also felicitated the members Mr. Javid Karjikar, Mr. Mohammed Amin Shaikh, Mr. Fayaz Shaikh, Mr. Abdul Kareem, Mr. Abdul Salam Kattamane, Mr. Mohammed Ali Kasma, Mr. Mohammed Irshad Mulky, Mr. Mohammed Usman Ismail, Mr. Naushad Hussain, Mr. Riyaz Ahamed and Mr. Mohammed Sharief Hamza for their excellent contribution to the community work.

Meantime, office bearers of all four newly formed zonals were also introduced respectively.

KKMA central committee leaders Mr. Akbar Siddik, Mr. Ali Matra, K.C Gafoor, H.A Gafoor, Abdul Fattah Tayyil, and KKMA Zonal and other leaders from various KKMA branches were present.

Mr. Mohammed Bilal (Chairman of Raziya Foundation, Lahore-Pakistan)  and Mr. Abdul Khader Sheik, Business Development Manager, Lulu Group International were also present on the This.

The program was very well conducted by Mr. Fayaz Shaikh. The meeting was concluded with vote of thanks by General Secretary Mr. Mohammed Yusuf Muniyam.

The program was attended by a large number of members & leaders from various associations, and scrumptious buffet dinner was served at the end.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
