Mangaluru, Oct 6: A Muslim youth was attacked by a group of miscreants belonging to a Hindtuva fringe group after a girl belonging to Hindu community shared seat with him on board a Bengaluru-bound KSRTC bus.

ksrtcThe attack took place at KSRTC bus stand in Madikeri on Monday night. The next day a case was registered at the police station in Sullia from where Mohammed Anees and the Hindu girl had boarded the bus.

Though the victim and the girl were residents of Sullia they did not know each other. Since the bus was almost packed, the conductor asked them to share the same seat which could accommodate three persons.

A few passengers, said to be activists of a Hindutva group, raised objections and started a fight. The trouble mongers finally left the bus after the bus staff and other passengers intervened.

However, they passed on the news to their counterparts in Madikeri. When the bus reached Madikeri KSRTC bus stand, the activists pulled out the boy from the bus and assaulted him, sources said.

Sullia police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 298 (uttering, words, etc., with deliberate intent to wound the religious feelings of any person). The investigation is on.

These uncultured porkis make their earnings through wrong doings for petty cash and liquor thrown by people from kalladka and pumpwell

These porkis are not doing in love with their community or to protect hindu sisters, when so many of them are being exploited sexually daily by their own brothers.

They have only hatred towards Muslims Christians and Dalits. Bcos they envy empowerment of minorites and backward class

Bus conductor and Madikeri depot personnel didn't act as per law. Under such circumstances, bus is required to be diverted to nearby police station in the interest of bus and safety of passengers. Conductor didn't consider safety of passengers and property over reaching destination.

Wondering what kind of training the KSRTC management gives to conductors and drivers. Government and KSRTC should think of it.

Bengaluru, Feb 19: Karnataka Forest Minister Anand Singh on Wednesday said that there was no criminal case filed directly against him.

When asked about PIL filed in the Karnataka High Court against him, Singh told media: "Some lawyer has filed a PIL against me in the High Court. I cannot stop anyone from filing the PIL."

"I have given my criminal record. There is no criminal case directly filed against me. My name is there in some cases but in 'others category'. We will see what happens," he said.

When asked about Congress leader Siddaramaiah's comments criticising him for being given the forest portfolio, Singh said: "I cannot comment on what he said against me as he is a former chief minister and very senior leader."

"Also the opposition always tries to make allegations against me. That is why he criticised me," he said.

Leader of Opposition in Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah on Monday demanded that Forest Minister Anand Singh should either be expelled from the ministry or assigned a different portfolio.

A number of cases are pending against Singh including those registered under the Karnataka Forest Act.

Bengaluru, Jun 4: The Karnataka government has tweaked quarantine requirements for people arriving from Maharashtra, raising the isolation time from a fortnight to three weeks, an official said on Wednesday.

"Returnees from Maharashtra will be sent to institutional quarantine for seven days, followed by 14 days strict home quarantine, total 21 days," tweeted Health Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Pandey.

The 21-day quarantine regimen is for all asymptomatic people returning from Maharashtra, considering most of the Covid cases in Karnataka are having domestic travel history to that state.

If any of the asymptomatic people develop symptoms during the isolation, they will be subjected to a Covid test.

However, some asymptomatic individuals from Maharashtra have been provided some exceptions from the three-week quarantine and designated as special category passengers.

Special category passengers include people who suffered a death in family, pregnant women, children below 10, elderly people above 60, individuals suffering from serious illness and human distress.

Similarly, the department has also made some provisions for business travellers from Maharashtra.

"To establish that one is a business visitor, (that) person should show confirmed return flight or train ticket which should not be more than seven days later from the date of arrival," ordered Chief Secretary T.M. Vijay Bhaskar.

Similarly, if a business visitor is arriving on road, he should provide the address proof of the person in Karnataka he intends to meet.

Additionally, such a person should also produce a Covid negative test certificate which is not more than two days old.

"One does not have a Covid negative test certificate such a person should go for institutional quarantine for two days within which Covid test should be conducted at his own cost. After the test result is negative, that person is exempted from quarantine," he said.

However, business travellers have been exempted from hand stamping.

Amending the Sunday orders, Bhaskar, has enhanced the quarantine requirements for Maharashtra returnees.

Many conditions for visitors from other states remain mostly unchanged as notified on Sunday.

Bengaluru, Aug 3: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee working president Satish Jarakiholi on Sunday said that as per the party sources, state chief minister BS Yediyurappa has got only six months' time and there are different teams working against Yediyurappa in their party.

The BJP high command has decided to bring down Yediyurappa, Jarakhioli said. He added, "Yediyurappa had asked BJP high command to appoint him Chief Minister for six months and due to corona, his period has been extended. But now their own party sources have revealed that he has got only another six months."

While addressing the issue of different statements by BJP leaders and ministership aspirants after five MLCs were nominated, Jarakiholi said "Yediyurappa followers are not actual followers. BJP high command has already decided to bring down Yediyurappa as per their own party sources."

While speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said there are teams formed in the names of deputy CMs and there are many who are working in their party against Yediyurappa.

He also said that it's up to their party what they think about Yediyurappa's tenure, whether they keep him as CM or remove him. Being in Opposition, now Congress is only working on strengthening the party, he said.
