Agra, Nov 19: Rashtriya Bajrang Dal’s (RBD) women wing activists on Sunday performed ‘aarti’ and sprinkled ‘Gangajal’ in the Taj Mahal in protest against alleged violation of the Archeological Survey of India’s (ASI) norms, which, among other things, restrict the offering of ‘namaz’ or prayer inside the premises of the UNESCO World Heritage Site on Fridays.

Speaking to ANI, Meen Diwakar, the district president of RBD’s women wing, said that her organization would continue performing ‘aarti’ and purifying the Taj Mahal with Gangajal so long as the norms of ASI are flouted by others. She further stated that the administrative authorities could not stop them.

“The authorities need to stop them first, and then they can stop us,” Diwakar said. “Today we performed ‘pooja’ in our Tejo Mahal, sprinkled Gangajal to purify it. Some people had made it impure by offering ‘namaz.’ They have Fridays for that purpose. That is why we performed ‘aarti,” Diwakar said.

The RBD activist said that authorities have warned them of legal consequences. “That is good. There is no problem with that. If they can take their Qurans and offer ‘namaz’ inside the historical premises, why can’t we take our ‘pooja’ materials inside? We went there in a peaceful manner. If the authorities think we have done something wrong, we will face the action. But first, they have to charge them too,” she said.

Meanwhile, RBD’s Agra unit president Govind Parashar has called upon the local authorities and the Supreme Court to take cognizance of the ‘pooja’ offered inside the Taj Mahal and ensure a thorough investigation into the security lapses.

“What needs to be investigated is the number of security lapses. They need to investigate how they entered the Taj Mahal with matchsticks and all? How did the security personnel let them in? We will also speak with them and would try to find out why they entered the Taj premises without consent from us,” Parashar said.

He added that such a situation would not have arisen if the authorities had punished those who flouted the ASI directives.

“Lakhs of rupees are spent on the security, despite which some people are going there for offering ‘namaz,’ while some others are going to perform ‘pooja.’ They should suspend the security team. Authorities and the Supreme Court need to take cognizance of the matter and take action against the guilty,” Parashar said.

Mangaluru, Apr 28: Trucks carrying fish loads from Kerala will not be allowed to enter Dakshina Kannada district as the authorities are not being able to control the rush in markets, state Fisheries Minister and district-in-charge Kota Srinivas Poojary said Monday.

The deputy commissioner has been instructed to restrict the entry of fish transport vehicles from outside the district forthwith, in view of the difficulty in maintaining social distancing at the markets identified in the district, the minister told reporters here.

The coastal district has to take more precautionary measures to fight COVID-19 as the number of positive cases have risen in the last couple of days, he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 15: All 21 Madhya Pradesh MLAs from Jyotiraditya Scindia's camp, who were lodged here at Prestige Golfshire Club, have been shifted to Ramada hotel in Yelahanka ahead of Monday's floor test in the state assembly.

In view of their arrival, the concerned authorities have strengthened security outside the hotel.

Following the exit of Scindia from Congress, these MLAs claimed to have resigned from the state Legislative Assembly.

On March 11, Congress sent two of its leaders -- Sajjan Singh Verma and Govind Singh -- to Bengaluru in order to pacify some of these rebel MLAs.

Most of the rebel MLAs are perceived close to Scindia and were apparently unhappy at Scindia being "ignored" in the party.
Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Congress MLAs, who arrived in Bhopal from Jaipur today morning ahead of the floor test in the Assembly on Monday, have been shifted to Courtyard by Marriott Hotel.

These MLAs were accompanied by senior Congress leader Harish Rawat, who exuded confidence of Kamal-Nath led government winning floor test in the Assembly.

Both Congress and BJP have issued whips to all its MLAs for the legislative assembly session in Madhya Pradesh, which is scheduled to be held from March 16 to April 13.

On Saturday, Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon had directed that a floor test will be held in the assembly on Monday.

Bhopal, Mar 18: Congress leader Digvijay Singh's detention by police in Bengaluru is display of "dictatorship and Hitlarshahi" by the BJP, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath said here on Wednesday.

Singh staged a protest near a Bengaluru resort this morning where rebel MLAs of Madhya Pradesh Congress are staying, and demanded that he be allowed to meet them.

Singh, who has been detained by the police, accused the BJP of holding the MLAs captive and said that he would go on a "hunger strike".

Reacting to this, Nath said if the need arises he would also go to the Karnataka capital.

"Preventing Congress Rajya Sabha candidate and other ministers from meeting MLAs, misbehave with them, forcibly taken them into custody is totally a dictatorship and hitlershahi (sic)," Nath said in a tweet.

"Entire country is watching how an elected government is being made unstable and how BJP is murdering democratic values," Nath said.

"Why they are not allowing them to meet MLAs. What BJP is afraid of. BJP is playing a dirty political game in the state," the chief minister tweeted.

Demanding immediate release of detained Congress leaders, Nath said that democratic norms and Constitutional values are being stifled.

Later speaking to reporters, the CM said, "Why the BJP is afraid of presenting 16 MLAs here (Bhopal)? What is the problem in one person (Singh) meeting with 16 legislators?"

Nath reiterated that his government had proven majority on floor of the House in the last 15 months since coming to power.

Amid political uncertainty in Madhya Pradesh, the state Congress Legislature Party on Tuesday moved the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Centre and the BJP-led Karnataka government to grant it access to communicate with its rebel MLAs staying in Bengaluru.

The apex court had also directed the Kamal Nath government to respond by Wednesday to a plea by senior BJP leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan seeking immediate floor test in the Assembly.
