Mangaluru Feb 22: Senior IPS officer and law graduate Sandeep Patil today took charge as the commissioner Mangaluru city police at the commissionerate office here. The 40-year old replaced T R Suresh, who was transferred as Joint Commissioner of Police, City Armed Reserve, Bengaluru.
For Patil this is first posting in Dakshina Kannada district. “It’s a challenging and responsible task to work in Mangaluru. I assure the people of Mangaluru that police force will do its best to enforce law and order, contain drug mafia and ensure safety of women,” Mr Patil told media after formally assuming the office.
He also vowed that the police will be ruthless towards anti-social elements to maintain peace and harmony in the society. “We will take all necessary steps to ensure that the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be held peacefully in the region,” he said.
Outgoing commissioner Suresh said his 20-month term in Mangaluru was fruitful and he enjoyed working in the coastal city.
