Saudi: 253,086 illegal expats arrested in 5 weeks; 54,000 deported

Riyadh, Dec 23: A total of 253,086 people have been arrested in five weeks since the start of the ongoing crackdown against violators of residency and labor regulations in the Kingdom.

The coordinated security crackdown, as part of the Nation Without Illegal Expats campaign, started on Nov. 15.

Until Thursday, Dec. 21, 136,997 people were arrested for violating residency laws, 83,151 for violating labor laws, and 32,938 for breaching border security regulations, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday, quoting campaign sources.

A total of 3,156 people, 76 percent of the Yemenis, were arrested while trying to sneak into the Kingdom across its southern border.

A total of 533 were arrested for giving transportation or shelter to the violators. Punitive measures were already taken against 36,942 violators. The cases of 37,230 others were referred to their respective diplomatic missions to issue them travel documents while 41,326 violators are awaiting reservation of air tickets prior to their deportation.

A total of 54,092 violators have been deported to their respective countries in the five weeks since the launch of the crackdown, SPA said.

Riyadh, Jun 22: The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs (MMRA) in Saudi Arabia has announced the continuation of the ban on providing Shisha (hubble-bubble), and the closure of children's play areas in restaurants as a precautionary measure for protecting the health of citizens and residents from the novel coronavirus COVID-19 infection.

The new stage, in which the Kingdom is beginning to coexist with the virus, focuses on the concept of "social distancing" that has emerged since the start of the coronavirus crisis throughout the world,

It stipulates leaving at least 2 meters between one person and the other in public places to prevent the transmission of infection, in addition to covering the mouth and nose by wearing a facemask.

It also specifies complying with the preventive protocols in workplaces, stores, shops, mosques and tourist attractions, with human gatherings not to exceed 50 people, as a maximum.

New Delhi, Mar 19: Former Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi took oath as Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday.

Gogoi's wife Rupanjali Gogoi, daughter, and son in law were also present in Parliament.

Congress staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha over Gogoi's membership to the House.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Ravishankar Prasad welcomed Gogoi in the Rajya Sabha.

President Ram Nath Kovind had nominated the former CJI to the Rajya Sabha on March 16.

Gogoi served as the 46th Chief Justice of India from October 3, 2018, to November 17, 2019.

On November 9, 2019, a five-judge Bench headed by him had delivered the verdict in the long-pending Ramjanmabhoomi case.

People lost trust in Judiciary because of such horrible criminals.

 

He betrayed the whole nation. Unless he is booked, the judiciary will not restore the lost faith. 

 

 

The loss may be momentary in nature, It is the promise of the Almighty, He will ensure the justice is served to everyone.

Dubai, Apr 18: Saudi Arabia has reported 1,132 new coronavirus cases, taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 patients to 8,274, the Ministry of Health revealed on Saturday.

The ministry has also announced five more deaths from the virus, taking to 92 the Kingdom’s death toll.

Recoveries
As for recoveries, 280 new recoveries were reported, pushing the total number of patients recovered to 1,329.

The ministry revealed that 79 per cent of today’s cases are expatriates and that 65 per cent of the cases were detected through intensified and active COVID-19 screening in densely-populated areas.

A total of 201 patients of Saturday’s cases have contracted the disease due to being in contact with existing cases, the ministry added.

The new infected cases have been placed under complete isolation and they are receiving necessary medical care, an official from the ministry said.

He affirmed that medical teams are intensifying efforts and screening tests in workers' neighbourhoods and accommodations in order to limit the spread of the disease.
