Saudi army intercepts ballistic missile fired by Houthis

Riyadh, Sept 15: The Saudi Arabia's Royal Air Defence Forces intercepted on Friday a ballistic missile launched by the Iran-aligned Houthi militias towards the Kingdom, said the Arab Coalition Command in a statement. No injuries or casualties were reported.

Arab Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the ballistic missile was fired from the Yemeni governorate of Saada by the terrorist Houthi militias deliberately towards a densely populated civilian area in the Saudi city Jazan.

"Such hostile acts carried out by the terrorist Iranian Houthi militia prove that the Iranian regime continues to provide the rebels with advanced weapons capabilities, in flagrant defiance of UNSC Resolutions 2216 and 2231, with the main objective of threatening Saudi Arabian, regional and international security," he added.

Al Maliki reiterated that the launch of ballistic missiles towards civilian populated areas is a direct breach of the international humanitarian law.

Dubai, Apr 11: Saudi Arabia has reported another 382 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 4,033, the Ministry of Health announced on Saturday.

The ministry also confirmed five more deaths from the virus, pushing the death toll in Kingdom to 52.

A total of 35 people has made full recovery from the deadly disease, taking the tally of patients recovered to 720.

Jerusalem, May 17: The Chinese ambassador to Israel was found dead in his home north of Tel Aviv on Sunday, Israel's Foreign Ministry said.

No cause of death was given and Israeli police said it was investigating.

Du Wei, 58, was appointed envoy in February in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. He previously served as China's envoy to Ukraine.

He is survived by a wife and son, both of whom were not in Israel.

Israel enjoys good relations with China.

The ambassador's death comes just two days after he condemned comments by visiting U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who denounced Chinese investments in Israel and accused China of hiding information about the coronavirus outbreak.

Cairo, Mar 16: Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman said G20 summit will work to combat coronavirus and coordinate efforts to ease its economic burdens, state news agency SPA said on Sunday.

In a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Salman discussed international efforts to fight the flu-like disease, saying the next G20 summit, which will be hosted by the Kingdom, will work on finding medical solutions, SPA added.

The G20 Summit is an annual gathering of representatives of the world's largest economies.
