Saudi-bound Mangaluru flight makes emergency landing in Mumbai

expressairindiaMangaluru, Jul 17: A Saudi Arabia-bound Air India Express flight from Mangaluru today made an emergency landing at Mumbai International Airport after a woman passenger was taken ill.

"There was an emergency landing due to a medical reason today. The IX 885 flight that was flying to Saudi’s Dammam from Karnataka’s Mangaluru had a woman passenger who reported sick mid-air," an official told coastaldigest.com.

The pilot was forced to make the emergency landing after the 22-year-old female passenger started screaming unable to bear severe to stomach ache. Kidney stone is said to be the reason for the sudden pain.

Udupi, Feb 11: In a tragic incident, a 62-year-old man from Chennai died of drowning in Sri Krishna Mutt’s Madhwa Sarovar (pond) during the wee hours of Tuesday.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Capt G Sridharan.

It is suspected that Sridharan accidentally fell into the holy pond while taking a bath. The incident is said to have occurred around 4 a.m.

Mangaluru  Mar 27: Thinking that he might have contracted the coronavirus infection, a 55-year-old man has committed suicide in Bantwal taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.

The deceased has been identified as Sadashiva Shetty, a resident of Abbettu under Meramajalu village. He was working in a petrol bunk.

It is learnt that Sadashiva suspected that he might have come in contact with coronavirus infected people while working in the petrol bunk.

He was scared that the same might get transferred to his family members through him. 

He was depressed for past few days. Today, he hanged himself from the ceiling fan of his house, sources said.

A case has been regarded at the Bantwal rural police station and investigations are on.

Bengaluru, Jun 4: The Special Investment Promotion Task Force, constituted by the Karnataka government, held its first meeting in Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru on Wednesday, June 3.

The first meeting of the task force was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary, Karnataka government.

The body is seeking to find ways to attract the disenchanted multi-national corporations (MNCs) which are looking to shift their manufacturing base away from China in the back-drop of the COVID-19 outbreak.
