Dammam: heLPy Livelihood, a philanthropic organization conducted its second annual general body meeting at Rose Restaurant in Dammam, Saudi Arabia on Jan 8, 2016 after Ishaa prayer.

Master of the ceremony Br. Mohammed Riyaz opened the meeting with Islamic Greetings and invited the distinguished guests and its office bearers to the dais. The meeting commenced with the recitation of Holy Quran by Br. Shakir Mangalore who enlightened the importance of time in Islam and how to utilize and emphasized the audience to come forward and help the needy in the community for its betterment and gain rewards from Allah, the Almighty.

Honorable President Br. Sameer Ahmed welcomed all the members and guests in his welcome speech. He gave a brief explanation on heLPy and journey on how we progressed this year. In presidential speech, he thanked the committee for giving him the opportunity to lead heLPy for the term 2015. With all the good wishes and support from the Committee, he was able to justify the role as President for given term. He expressed his appreciation and also thanked the committee of the term 2015 for their enormous support which had strengthened the Unit to lead in the direction of prosperity. He further requested Br. Abdul Rafiq to brief the Bengare new Tailoring Centre Inauguration Ceremony.

Br. Abdul Rafiq brief the Inauguration ceremony of the center and expressed joy on how heLPy had succeeded in fulfilling its dream of helping the helpless. He explained the inauguration ceremony in details and also said that the locals were happy that heLPy selected Bengare for their initial project that the financially downtrodden families got a ray of hope through heLPy.

The annual report for 2015 was presented to attendees in a professional way by the General Secretary Br. Suneer Ahmed. He briefed about heLPy to the audience, which literally represents an association meant for the welfare of less privileged brothers & sisters of the society. He further briefed the activities and the achievements heLPy. His reports highlighted that the first and foremost priority in heLPy is given to all round development of the less privileged families in the community.

During the term 2015, heLPy had conducted 12 monthly meetings and 5-6 special meetings to discuss various aspects for the betterment of the community.

For the 2nd time in heLPy’s short history Treasurer Br. Abdul Khader Shaheer presented the annual financial reports of heLPy for the Year 2015 in details. This mainly highlighted the financial support given to Bengare new tailoring centre Project.

Br Mohidin Bava presented an Accolade Ceremonial further in a neat and auspicious way. He explained the importance of unity and charity of us to the helpless and needy people of our community. He enlightened the members of the reward we get of utilizing our time and effort in helping the helpless. He gave an emotional speech towards development of the Organization by young generation and helping needier. He also enlightened the importance of sadaqah and its rewards. Office bearers and executive members were honored for their excellent performance and dedication in 2015.

The existing committee was dissolved by the Office bearers. Br. Mohammed Fareed was appointed as the election controller. He professionally continued the election process and the following office bearers were selected for 2016 unanimously. The executive committee strength was increased this year for a number of 30 members.

The new-elected president, Br. Mohidin Bava had addressed the new committee and thanked all the members for showing confidence on new team and giving opportunity to lead main role for the term 2016. He appreciated the selfless and whole hearted job done by the Ex-President Br. Sameer and promised to maintain and try to take heLPy to a new stature by the grace of Almighty and with the continued support and cooperation from office bearers, executives, team members and well-wishers of heLPy.

A quiz competition was held by the event coordinator Br. Riyaz for the audience and children. Vote of thanks was proposed by General Secretary Br. Suneer Ahmed and on behalf of heLPy had expressed the gratitude to all the members and guests for their kind presence and congratulated the New Committee for their success in accomplishing all the future assignments of heLPy. Dinner was served at the end and the Annual General Body Meeting was dispersed with a Dua.

Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee, Saudi Arabia organized Republic Day program at AlRyan Policlinic Restaurant Auditorium, Dammam on 25th January 2020.

Abdul Waris, Former Chairman of Indian International School Dammam Inaugurated the program.

Wasim Rabbani, president of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee Presided over the program.

Mansoor Shah KFUPM, Indian Social Forum Delhi Zone President, Dr. Fayaz Ahmed from King Fahad University Hospital, Amir Moulavi, Executive Member,  India Fraternity Forum (IFF) Dammam, Nasir Koduvalli, Indian Social Forum, Kerala State President, Dammam, Sharief, Social Forum Karnataka State President, DammamJahangir Moulavi, Tamilnadu State president delivered speech at the program. Mohammed Firoz, Indian Social Forum  President, Jubail read the preamble of constitution.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.
