Saudi: Indian suicidal driver steals cop's gun, takes selfie on police car roof

Jeddah, Oct 10: Riyadh police revealed on Sunday the circumstances of a video showing a resident assaulting a police vehicle and trying to pull a policeman’s arm before hearing a shooting.

Media spokesman of the region’s police told Almarsd news website that the security patrol operations room received a notice from a citizen Sunday morning that his 27-year-old Indian driver had attempted to commit suicide.

He explained that the security teams immediately moved to the site of the notice. “The driver was seen in a case of hysteria that necessitates dealing with him as required by the situation to ensure his safety and neutralize his danger.”

They managed to master over him without any injuries and he was given the necessary aid, the media spokesman said.

“After he was seen by the specialist doctor, it turned out that he suffers from psychological disorders.” He said

Accordingly, he was given the necessary treatment, handed over to the appropriate police station, and the Public Prosecution Branch was notified to complete the required measures.

Riyadh, Apr 20: Six more people have died in Saudi Arabia after contracting coronavirus as 1,122 new coronavirus cases were reported on Monday.

The Saudi health ministry said that total number of cases in the Kingdom had increased to 10,484. It also recorded 92 new recoveries, raising the total to 1,490.

The ministry said precautionary measures shall remain to limit the virus spread.

Dubai, Apr 10: Saudi Arabia reported 364 new coronavirus cases and three new virus-related deaths, the Ministry of Health announced on Friday.

The total number of confirmed cases in the Kingdom is 3,651, out of which 2,919 are currently active, the ministry added.

Out of the new cases, 90 were recorded in Mecca, 78 in Medina, 69 in Riyadh, and 54 in Jeddah, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, the number of fatalities rose to 47, while th number of recoveries reached 685.

The daily number of confirmed cases in Saudi Arabia has not peaked yet, and has been rapidly accelerating.

Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Health had said earlier this week that four different studies showed that the number of coronavirus cases in the Kingdom could reach between 10,000 to 200,000 within weeks.

The ministry spokesman emphasized the urgent need for citizens and residents to remain at home and maintain social distancing practices to ensure that the virus does not spread further.

Riyadh, Apr 26: The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia has issued an order to partially lift the curfew in all regions of the Kingdom, to become from 9am to 5pm, starting Sunday through Wednesday May 13, while keeping a 24-hour curfew in the holy city of Makkah and in previously isolated neighbourhoods, state news agency (SPA) said early on Sunday.

The order also allowed the opening of some economic and commercial activities, which include wholesale and retail shops in addition to malls.

They can operate for two weeks, beginning on April 29 (Wednesday) until May 13 (Ramadan 6-20), however, certain shops within malls like beauty clinics, barber salons, gyms, cinemas, and restaurants will continue to be restricted from reopening.
