School manager dies as speeding car rams into scooter

Manjeshwar, Oct 14: An elderly man lost his life and a middle aged man suffered severe injuries after a speeding car rammed into a two-wheeler at Uppala near here on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Husain (65), a school manager from Bengaluru. Afaq (45), who sustained injuries in the mishap, was rushed to a hospital.

The two had gone out for some work on a scooter in the morning. A car coming from the opposite direction knocked down the two-wheeler on NH 66, sources said.

A resident of Bengaluru, Husain had come to his relative's house in Uppala four days ago and he was supposed to return this weekend.

Chikkamagaluru, May 4: KSRTC resumed its service from Chikkamagaluru district headquarters to taluk centres amidst the lockdown to contain COVID-19 on Monday. Chikkamagaluru is in the green zone.

Hundreds of passengers travelled to Sringeri, Mudigere, Koppa and Kadur taluks since morning from the Chikkamagaluru city.

According to KSRTC Divisional Controller, passengers who wish to travel to taluk centres have to register half an hour prior to the journey. 

Sanitisers were placed in the bus stand in Chikkamagaluru to sanitise hands before boarding the buses.

Mangaluru,  May 3: An unidentified vehicle mowed down a 62-year-old security guard near Guruvayanakere, Belthangady taluk, on Saturday.

The deceased Lingappa Moolya was returning to his home in Guruvayanakere on a two-wheeler when the hit-and-run case took place. Police said he was hit by a truck. A guard at an ATM, Moolya was also an active member of the local Kulala Association.

A case was registered at Belthangady police station.

Bengaluru, Mar 26: Karnataka Primary and Higher Education Minister Suresh Kumar on Thursday clarified that the SSLC examinations have not canceled as being claimed by many. 

Taking to Twitter, he said there was confusion among students and parents as wrong news was published in a some of the news papers and even in social media also.
