School manager dies as speeding car rams into scooter

Manjeshwar, Oct 14: An elderly man lost his life and a middle aged man suffered severe injuries after a speeding car rammed into a two-wheeler at Uppala near here on Friday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Mushtaq Husain (65), a school manager from Bengaluru. Afaq (45), who sustained injuries in the mishap, was rushed to a hospital.

The two had gone out for some work on a scooter in the morning. A car coming from the opposite direction knocked down the two-wheeler on NH 66, sources said.

A resident of Bengaluru, Husain had come to his relative's house in Uppala four days ago and he was supposed to return this weekend.

Yadgir, Jan 21: A bag was found abandoned at the Yadgir Bus Stand on Tuesday morning that left the commuters in panic.

After receiving the information, a police team, along with a sniffer dog, rushed to the spot. When the bag was checked, the police found clothes and cash in it.

It is stated that a passenger might have left the bag in a hurry to catch the bus.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief DK Shivakumar's daughter Aishwarya and Cafe Coffe Day founder late VG Siddhartha's son, Amarthya Hegde got engaged at SM Krishna Residence, Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru on Monday.
Only family members were present in the event. Amarthya Hegde is also the grandson of former Union Minister SM Krishna.
Last year in July, the body of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder Siddhartha was unearthed on the banks of Netravati river.

Mangaluru, Jun 3: A banner that read "Veer Savarkar Flyover Pumpwell" surfaced on the sidewall of the Pumpwell flyover in Mangaluru on Tuesday night.

It is suspected that activists of Bajrang Dal put up the controversial banner. Though it was removed later, it sparked debates on social media and photos of it went viral.

The development comes amid the controversy over the naming of a flyover at Yelahanka in Bengaluru after Savarkar.

A Hindutva ideologue, Savarkar has tendered apology to British imperialists and pledged to support them following his arrest during India’s freedom movement.
