Mangaluru, Jun 25: U.T. Khader, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, said here on Sunday that one of the prime accused in the June 21 murder of an activist of the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) at Benjanapadavu on the outskirts of the city, who is at large, shared the dais with RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat at a press conference here on May 28.

The Minister said the police should conduct a probe into the links between the accused, Bharat, and Mr. Bhat.

Addressing presspersons here on Sunday, Mr. Khader said according to the police, Bharat, of Bantwal, is one among the two prime accused in the murder of the activist and an autorickshaw driver Ashraf Kalai, 35. Bharat is said to be associated with a Hindutva group. Mr. Bhat had conducted a meeting in the city in connection with a May 26 incident at Kalladkka. Photographs showing Bharat sharing the dais with Mr. Bhat have been published in newspapers. The Minister said this has proved the allegation by the Congress that Mr. Bhat is linked to the untoward incidents in Kalladkka and Bantwal taluk.

Mr. Khader added that the BJP had conducted a block-level meeting in Boliyar in Mangaluru taluk in the evening a day before the activist was murdered. The police should also find out if there was any link between the murder and the meeting.

The lack of Muslilm unity is main cause....
The happenings in India is against Islam.
Muslims must join with a chain without any Political or religious parties. Each muslim house have to have heavy loaded Gu s to shoot or destroy the people who enters your house any time without your permission (like it happened in bantwal taluk before few days) and also each muslim must carry for their protection.

Bengaluru, Jun 22: Senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad and BJP’s MTB Nagaraj, one of the defectors who helped the saffron party come to power in Karnataka, were unanimously elected to the Legislative Council along with five others on Monday.

All seven were declared as “duly elected” by Legislative Assembly Secretary MK Vishalakshi, the returning officer for the biennial election to the Legislative Council.

Hariprasad and Naseer Ahmed of the Congress, Nagaraj, R Shankar, Prathap Simha Nayak and Sunil Vallyapur of the BJP and Govinda Raju of the JD(S) are now MLCs.

While Ahmed was an incumbent who will get another term, the six others will replace Jayamma, MC Venugopal, NS Bore Raju, HM Revanna and TA Sharavana and DU Mallikarjuna whose term ends June 30.

While an election was scheduled June 29, it was not necessary as only seven candidates were in the fray for the seven seats on Monday, which was the last date for withdrawal of nominations. The nominations of A Yadavanahalli PC Krishnegowda and Mandikkal Nagaraja were rejected.

With their rejection as MLCs, Nagaraj and Shankar - who jumped ship to the BJP last year - will now look to become ministers in Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa’s Cabinet. Both Nagaraj and Shankar were ministers when they resigned and defected from the Congress-JD(S) coalition. While Nagaraj lost the December 2019 bypolls, Shankar did not contest.

Nagaraj, Shankar and Vallyapure were Yediyurappa’s picks for the Council, whereas Nayak is said to have been backed by BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel.

There were many aspirants in the Congress for the Council berths, but Hariprasad and Ahmed were picked, given their experience. Hariprasad is widely believed to counter Siddaramaiah, who leads the party in the Assembly.

Raju of the JD(S) runs a poultry business in Kolar and the choice of a fresh face is seen as the party leadership steering clear of any trouble as there were many asking for the ticket.

Mangaluru, Mar 7: After coronavirus cases were confirmed in different parts of the country, there has been a sudden jump in demand for mask and safety gears like gloves and sanitizers in Mangaluru and Udupi.

With the increase in demand, medical shop owners said that they were finding it difficult to meet the demand.

In fact, there is a demand for bulk supply of masks and gloves. There was demand for masks when Covid-19 was confirmed in China two months ago. Bulk quantities of masks were purchased in order to supply them to Indian employees working in China. A few private firms had purchased masks from Mangaluru in the month of December.
