Sea of humanity erupts in Malappuram to protestUniform Civil Code'

Malappuram, Nov 5: The Malappuram town turned into a sea of humanity as countless Muslims protesting against the Uniform Civil Code marched under the banner of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama on Friday evening.

The march, taken out by the Samastha Coordination Committee demanding protection of the Islamic Shariat Law, warned the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Central government against implementing the Uniform Civil Code in the country.

The organisers claimed more than one lakh protestors from mahals in the district attended the rally, which began from the Malabar Special Police (MSP) premises and concluded at Shamsul Ulama Nagar at Kizhakkethala.

Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama treasurer and Indian Union Muslim League State president Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the march. Organising committee chairman K. Mammad Faizi presided. Samastha general secretary K. Alikutty Musliar, scholars Syed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal, M.T. Abdullah Musliar, Haj Committee chairman T.M. Bapu Musliar, Abdussamad Pookkottur, and Sathar Faizi Panthallur were among those who addressed the rally.

Meanwhile, lakhs of Muslims responded by joining a mass signature campaign launched by the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulama at mosques on Friday.

FYI shamshuddin , Indians are highly respected , I mean Hindus , christians , Sikhs , jains . ... One particular community goes to UK and tries to bomb glasgow airport only ... Sharia Law is Divine and whole mankind will be protected if it is implemented in any nation... The people who oppose this are really need to learn the divine law.. which is perfect when we use our intellect, reason and logic on the issues we are facing not just india but thru out the world.

We indians are intelligent, then Y cant we learn and know whats in it rather than just blindly following & believing the hate mongers speeches and commit evil which will regret later in the life....

Mangaluru, Feb 26: Customs officials at Mangalore International Airport on Wednesday arrested a man for trying to smuggle gold worth over Rs 26 lakh by concealing it in his rectum.

The accused has been identified as Moideen Arzan, a resident of Uppala, Kasaragod.

According to police, he arrived from Dubai by an Air India flight and was attempting to smuggle the gold which he had converted in the form of paste and concealed in rubber capsules inside his rectum.

Mangaluru, Apr 10: Eight people were arrested on Friday on charges of illegally arriving at Addur near the city through boat violating the lockdown.
 
Police said that Yakub and other seven in his group have been charged with criminal cases for entering the city illegally as the border between Kerala and Karnataka has been sealed and a ban on travel between the States is in effect.
 
The group had arrived through boat despite there was ban. Police are now investigating the existence of a gang who are illegally transporting people through the sea across State borders.

Bengaluru, Jul 21: The total number of Covid-19 cases in Karnataka breached the 70,000 mark on Tuesday as the state reported 3,649 fresh infections, while 61 fatalities took the death toll to 1,464, the health department said.

The day also saw 1,664 patients getting discharged after recovery. Out of 3,649 fresh cases reported on Tuesday, a whopping 1,714 were from Bengaluru urban alone. As of July 21 evening, cumulatively 71,069 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed in Karnataka, which includes 1,464 deaths and 25,459 discharges, the health department said in its bulletin.

It said that out of the 44,140 active cases, 43,557 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable, while 583 are in Intensive Care Units.

Twenty-two out of 61 deaths reported on Tuesday are from Bengaluru urban, followed by five each from Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru and Dharwad, four each from Kolar and Belagavi, three each from Hassan, Tumakuru and Haveri, Bidar 2, and one each from Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Chamarajanagara, Gadag and Vijayapura.

Most of the deceased either had a history of Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) or Influenza-like illness (ILI). Out of 3,649 cases tested positive on Tuesday, contacts of the large number of the cases are still under tracing.

Among the districts where new cases were reported, Bengaluru urban accounted for 1,714, Ballari 193, Dakshina Kannada 149, Mysuru 135, Yadgir 117, Uttara Kannada 109, Hassan 107, Kolar 103, followed by others.

Bengaluru urban district topped the list of positive cases, with 34,943 infections, followed by Dakshina Kannada 3,829 and Kalaburagi 2,966. Among discharges Bengaluru urban was on top with 7,476 discharges, followed by Kalabuagi 1,834 and Udupi 1,731.

A total of 10,64,734 samples were tested so far, out of which 43,904 were tested on Tuesday alone, the bulletin said. It said that 19,328 of the 43,904 samples tested today were rapid antigen tests.
