Sea will be rough in Kerala, Lakshadweep shore

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 26: Sea will be rough during 1730 hrs (IST) of April 25 to 2330 hrs (IST) of April 26 due to the effect of high period (16-18 sec) swell waves, having 1.7-2.4 m height near shore of Kerala and Lakshadweep, according to an INCOIS forecast here on Thursday.

Thunderstorm accompanied with rain and gusty winds, speed reaching 40-50 kmph, is likely in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Wayanad and Kozhikode districts for the next three hours from 1900 hrs.

A yellow alert was issued in four districts, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram, in Kerala from April 29.

NITK-ISRO signs MoU for space research

Surathkal, Jan 4: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) have signed agreementsfor joint research and development of technology for application in space, a statement said here on Friday.

As part of the agreement, which was signed by P Venkatakrishnan, Director of ISRO CBPO Division and Prof Umamaheswar Rao, Director, NITK, ISRO will establish the Regional Academic Center for Space (RACS) at NITK.

25 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Karnataka

Bengaluru, Apr 19: As many as 25 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the State till now, said Karnataka's Health Department.

"25 new COVID-19 cases reported in the State from 5 pm Friday to 5 pm on Saturday. The total number of positive cases in the State is 384 including 14 deaths and 104 discharges," added the Health Department.

The Health Department has appealed to the doctors, who are willing to volunteer in the fight against coronavirus, to reach out to the government.

A total of 14,378 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the country so far, with 480 deaths being reported due to the virus.

Karnataka govt to build Rs 200 crore pilgrim complexes at Tirumala

Tirupati, Jul 5: The Karnataka government will soon build a massive pilgrim amenities complex and marriage hall at Tirumala, the hill abode of Lord Venkateswara, at an estimated cost of Rs 200 crore, a temple official said here on Saturday.

The state would soon submit a blueprint for the construction of the Rs 200 crore mega complexes to the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) that governs the hill shrine, the official said.

Consequently, based on the designs, TTD would construct the complexes with the given fund and after completion, they would be handed over to the Karnataka government, he said.

Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa would lay the foundation stone for the mammoth complexes on the hills some time next month, he said.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is likely to take part in the programme, he added.

We are facing shortage of medical facilites and the people are dying on the road by not getting a bed in the hospital. Please use these amounts for the same.
