Udupi, Feb 9: The search operations for the fishing boat, Suvarna Tribhuja, which went missing off the Goa coast on December 15, 2018 with seven fishermen onboard, are continuing.
Speaking to presspersons after the phone-in programme at the District Police Office here on Friday, Laxman B. Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police, said that a ship, INS Nireekshak, equipped with sonar, three-dimensional imaging and deep sea divers, was continuing search operations in the sea near Malvan in Maharashtra.
The Suvarna Tribhuja was 23 metres and there were some reports there was a wreckage of a similar length in the sea.
However search operations revealed that it was a 22-metre rock, he said.
Mr. Nimbargi said that a cabin was found floating in the same region recently. Though it was speculated that it might be the cabin of Suvarna Tribhuja, the fishermen from Malpe had said it was not the cabin of the missing boat. However an officer from Coastal Security Police (CSP) from Ankola had left to check this cabin, he said.
