‘Seed World 2019’ delegation meets Karnataka CM to discuss agricultural issues

Bengaluru, Sept 22: A delegation of Seed World 2019 event on Saturday met the Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa here to discuss various issues concerning agriculture.

"The 14-member delegation of eminent global and national heads of various institutions discussed on doubling the farmers' income and the policy push needed for the growth of Agriculture in the state and especially making Karnataka as a global hub of quality seed production," read a press release.

The delegation, led by Dr MJ Khan Chairman ICFA and KS Narayanaswamy (President of Karnataka State seed producer's and marketers association) suggested the Chief Minister to create an apex body to boost seed exports and agricultural startups.

The delegation further recommended the implementation of 'seed valley project' similar to Telangana state to the Chief Minister for which he gave his nod.

The event, Seed World 2019 was organized under the aegis of the Indian Council of Food and Agriculture (ICFA).

Bengaluru, May 31: As many as 299 fresh covid-19 cases reported in Karnataka today. Most of them have interstate travel history.

With this total number of covid-19 cases in Karnataka rose to 3221. 

District wise cases: Raichur 83, Yadgir 44, Bidar 33, Kalaburagi 28, Vijayapura 26, Bengaluru Urban 21, Dakshina Kannada 14, Mandya 13, Belagavi 13, Udupi 10, Davangere 6, Uttara Kannada 5, Ballari, Shivamogga, Kolar 1 each.

Two more deaths reported in the state. One of the patients is a 50 year old male from Raichuru district, who returned from Maharashtra. Another is a 75 year old man, a resident of containment zone in Bidar. With this the number of COVID 19 related deaths rose to 51.

Kasaragod, Apr 21: Kerala reported a spike in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday with 19 people testing positive, after a decline in the numbers in the past few days, as the total infections touched 426 in the southern state.

Kannur recorded 10 cases, Palakkad four, Kasaragod three and Malappuram and Kollam one each, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters here.

The number of those getting infected were in single digits over the past few days.

Of the 10 positive cases from Kannur, nine of them had come from abroad and one had been infected through contact, he said.

Pointing out that the positive cases in Palakkad,Malappuram and Kollam had come from neighbouring Tamil Nadu, Vijayan said there is need to enforce strict vigilance in places bordering neighbouring states.

Sixteen people tested negative on Tuesday, while the total active cases 117, he added.

At least 32,000 people are under observation,

Of the around 20,000 samples sent, 19,440 had returned negative, Vijayan said.

Mysuru, Feb 6: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Thursday said that he would consult experts in Ayurveda and other streams over coronavirus issue.

Speaking to the media here, he said that ''So far no positive case has been reported in the state''.

''However, the Health department officials have taken all precautionary measures to check the epidemic'', he further said.
