Belagavi, Jan 6: Vishwa Prani Kalyan Mandali, Bengaluru, president Swamy Dayanand said on Saturday that he would file contempt of court petition in the high court against the state government and the Belagavi district administration for allowing mass animal sacrificeon the premises of the Yallamma Devi temple in Kokatnur village of Athani taluk during the annual fair held on December 31.

Swamy said that last year, he had tried to prevent animal sacrifice at the temple but could not do so due to the non-cooperation of local authorities and police.

“I had made proper preparations this year to prevent animal sacrifice by approaching several authorities concerned including the chief secretary, DGP & ADGP Bengaluru, IGP (Northern Range) besides district authorities including DC, SP, local CPI and PSI. Despite orders from top authorities, lower officers ignored them and allowed animal sacrifice,” he said.

He added that according to the Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifice Act-1959 sacrificing animals at any public religious place is prohibited. “It is illegal and attracts punishment up to six months along with a penalty. In 2015, the high court instructed government authorities to hold awareness camps to prevent animal sacrifice in religious events like jatras and congregations. Since the local administration failed to do its duty, I will file a contempt petition,” he said.

“Thousands of animals were sacrificed in front of senior police officials during the fair. Meat was sold at the spot and butchers were openly charging Rs 200 to kill and skin animals on the premises of the temple. Devotees from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa too were killing animals. It’s unfortunate that police officials were mute spectators,” Swamy said.

Dear Sir, please approach the court in banning beef exsport by sangh parivar factory owners.   YOu are talking only on animal sacrifice and not on beef export.   None should stop animal sacrifice on religious ground.  Why are you interfering in this matter.   Do you want to stop people from eating chicken, mutton etc.   None should be forced to avoid consuming meat.   NOne is forcing you for this.   As you are against consuming beef, you should ask people to avoid milk also.   Beef is agaisnt your faith and Milk is ok.   Why is this double standard.

Mangaluru, June 11: The Saudi Arabia based Expertise Contracting Company, which is repatriating its employees to India and other countries, today allocated around 90 seats of one of its chartered flights to Kannadigas stranded in Saudi Arabia.

The Gulf Air flight took off with around 175 passengers on board from Dammam International Airport around noon local time. It is expected to land at Mangaluru International Airport at around 7 p.m. Indian time.

In fact the company had chartered the flights only to repatriate its employees. However, due to the lack of special flights under Vande Bharati Mission, the company decided to help the other stranded Kannadigas in Saudi Arabia, who had approached Saudi Kannadigas Humanity Forum for help.

A company official said that around 2,000 employees from various countries in the Indian subcontinent are being repatriated, of which 1,665 are Indians.  Already hundreds of them have reached India, and hundreds are still waiting for repatriation.

“We are grateful to Expertise for allowing to travel in the flight which the company had chartered to repatriate its own employees,” said one of the passengers before boarding the flight at the airport.

Director of Expertise, KS Shaikh said the 20-year-old Expertise group, one of the largest conglomerates in the GCC operating in petrochemical and heavy equipment sectors, has more than 10,000 employees and their family members in the Gulf, mainly in Jubail, one of the largest industrial cities.

Of these, the company has chosen over 2,000 employees for the covid-related repatriations considering various emergencies. He said 12 chartered flights have been engaged to carry out the repatriation exercise to the Indian subcontinent.

Bengaluru, Apr 1: Karnataka Health Minister B Sriramulu on Wednesday said that 200 people, out of 342 from the state who had attended the religious gathering at Markaz building in Delhi's Nizamuddin area, have been quarantined.

"200 people including four from Bengaluru and five from Belgaum, who participated in Tablighi Jamaat (in Delhi's Nizamuddin), have been quarantined. Total 342 people from Karnataka had attended the event," Sriramulu told reporters here.

The gatherings organised by the Tablighi Jamaat at the Markaz building in Nizamuddin came into the spotlight after multiple coronavirus cases were confirmed amongst those who attended the event held in March.
Twenty-four cases were reported from the national capital alone, apart from Telangana, the union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands amongst others.

The minister had earlier said that Bengaluru Urban and Mysuru have been identified among the prime 25 COVID-19 hotspots in the country.
Chikkaballapur, since the last fourteen days, has been emerging as another hotspot, according to Sriramulu.

The total number of coronavirus cases in India has risen to 1,637 after 240 new cases were reported in the country, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, on Wednesday.

The total number of active cases rose to 1466 in the country, while 132 people have been cured and discharged after receiving treatment, as of 9 am.
