Udupi, Jun 27: Vishweshateertha Swami of Pejawar Mutt on Monday defended the iftar party organised for members of the Muslim community at the Krishna Mutt here on Saturday.seer

The pontiff’s defence comes in the backdrop of Sri Rama Sene founder Pramod Muthalik’s criticism of the event being held in the Mutt.

The seer said he had done nothing wrong to hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindus, instead he had upheld the ethos of the Hindu religion of tolerance and harmony.

He was speaking to reporters after a 40-minute closed door meeting with Muthalik. The seer said he had been striving to bridge the gap between the communities and had never failed to raise his voice when injustice was meted out to Hindus. The Muslim community had been cooperative during the paryaya, he said.

He said Muthalik’s claim that he had hurt the sentiments of Hindus held no water as he had received accolades from all sections of the society.

The pontiff denied the charge that members of the Muslim community were allowed to perform namaz (holy prayer) on the premises of the Mutt. The namaz, before breaking the fast, was facilitated at the ‘bhojana shala’ (dining hall), which is away from the Mutt.

Regarding the other apprehension over beef consumption, the seer said it is not only Muslims who consume beef, there are also some Hindus who eat beef. Just because they consume beef, people cannot be stopped from entering the temple. They can be advised or requested not to consume beef, the seer said.

“My predecessor had visited Haji Abdullah’s house for the pre-paryaya ritual and accepted offerings in 1904. Even Madhwacharya had harmonious relations with Muslims and was felicitated by the community people.”

If beef eating is really a sin or crime, then the issue should be brought into global level where most of the beef consumption is outside the India. But scientific evidence is must to prove it.

Man made culture of food habit should not be considered as rule of God.
India consumes beef less than 5% of whole world.
Why don't go to US & Europe, 80% are consumed here.
Australia and New Zealand also consume and export big qty. of beef

God give wisdom to know and follow the right path.

Bengaluru, Jan 7: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Monday said the much-awaited cabinet expansion will take place in about a week to 10 days and that he wants to complete the exercise before his proposed visit to Davos to attend the World Economic Forum meet later this month.

"Cabinet expansion has to be done in a week or 8-10 days. There is also information that Amit Shah will be coming to Bengaluru on January 16 or 18. Before that I will go to Delhi and get things cleared and will expand the cabinet at the earliest," Mr Yediyurappa said.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, he said he wanted to complete the exercise before his Davos visit.

"I will make all efforts to expand the cabinet before that," he said.

With Mr Yediyurappa making it clear that 11 of the disqualified JDS-Congress MLAs who got re-elected in the December 5 bypolls on BJP tickets will be made ministers, lobbying has been on within the party for the remaining ministerial berths.

Currently, there are 18 ministers, including the Chief Minister, in the cabinet that has a sanctioned strength of 34.

Cabinet expansion will not be an easy task for the Chief Minister as he will have to strike a balance by accommodating the victorious disqualified legislators as promised and also make space for the old guards, upset at being "neglected" in the first round of the induction exercise.

He also has to give adequate representation to various castes and regions in his cabinet and also deal with the allocation of key portfolios.

The Chief Minister, who has indicated that the ministry expansion may take place any time after Sankranti, is likely to travel to Davos on January 20, according to sources.

BS Yediyurappa, along with Union ministers Piyush Goyal and Mansukh Mandaviya, as well as Chief Ministers Amarinder Singh, Kamal Nath, are expected to join over 100 Indian CEOs at Davos in Switzerland later this month for the WEF's 50th annual meeting, which will be attended by thousands from across the globe.

New Delhi, Mar 21: Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Minister B. Sriramulu on Saturday informed that one more person was tested positive for the coronavirus in the state.

He said that a total of 16 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in the state so far.

The victim had come from Mecca and was kept in quarantine facility by the state authorities.

"For a 32-year-old man, who had just returned from a trip to Mecca has found COVID-19 positive. The infection has been confirmed. He has already been treated at an isolated ward of the hospital. Citizens must not have any sort of anxiety," tweeted Sriramulu.

Also, the news and public relations department, the Indian Red Cross Society and the Karnataka State Labour Studies Institute have invited volunteers for the programme to provide real-time information to people to avoid spreading rumours and misinformation about coronavirus.

At least four volunteers will work in four shifts per day in each taluk of the state. There are about 120 volunteers in Bengaluru city and about 3,000 Corona Warriors are expected to register from across the state. Over 400 volunteers have registered via online application on the first day.
