Mysuru, Nov 26: Senior writer and former English professor K S Bhagawan, who had faced death threats from saffron elements for his rationalist statements, has again earned the wrath of a section of people by raising his voice against seers and pseudo historians, who according to him have been fooling innocent Indians in the name of Ram

The remarks of Bhagawan triggered a war of words among the participants of a technical session on 'Neglected Sections of the People' held as part of the 83rd Akhila Bharatha Kannada Sahitya Sammelana, at the Maharaja's College Centenary Hall here on Saturday.

In the wake of the ongoing Dharma Samsad of the Vishwa Hindu Parishat in Udupi and the discussion on the construction of the Rama temple in Ayodhya, Bhagawan said, "The seers of various religious and spiritual institutions are discussing religion and construction of Ram Mandir, while we are discussing the problems of the neglected people and the downtrodden in the society, here."

"The media is also giving wider coverage to the Dharma Samsad, compared to the sammelana. They all worship Rama, who sent his pregnant wife to the forest,” he said adding that pseudo historians of India are trying their best to present myths as real history.
“The governments are also trying to introduce these myths and lies in the school curriculum. It is high-time people wake up and rebel against the seers and pseudo historians, who have been fooling them since ages. All those people who worship Ram are slaves," he said.

When a few people among the audience objected to his statements, he questioned them about their qualification and what they have read. While a few people supported Bhagawan, others shouted at Bhagawan and his supporters to withdraw his statements. When the situation was going out of control, as the audience was divided into two groups, the police personnel intervened and escorted Bhagawan to safety. The audience were also pacified.

It represents the presence of the Lord. I am conscious about the history. I am immensely blessed to be associated with the Krishna Mutt in one or the other.”

She turned nostalgic and traced her connection with the Krishna mutt which started in her childhood. “I am attached to the Mutt and temple due to my maternal uncle. My uncle was a bank employee and he spent his career in Manipal. I am being drawn to the mutt for the past 25 years. I am blessed immensely by the seers of the mutt and Lord Krishna.”
