Honnavar, Feb 1: A group of seers and heads of mutts have come forward to hold a silent march in Uttara Kannada district which witnessed several communal clashes and murders in recent days.

The suspicious death of Paresh Mesta in Honnavar weeks ago had triggered widespread violence in the district. Local BJP MP and union minister Anant Kumar Hegde had claimed that Paresh was a BJP activist and that he was tortured to death by Muslims. However, post mortem report of Paresh, who was found drowned, had proven Hegde’s claim to be false.

However, thanks to provocative speeches and sporadic untoward incidents, people in the district still live in the fear of being attacked by assailants or arrested by the police.

Meanwhile, a group of seers of the district have gathered and decided to walk for communal harmony. The silent march will be held in the district soon.

Apart from the seers, advocates, students, educationists, political leaders, temple managements, retired government employees and doctors will join the seers in the silent march.

They are doing noble cause. All people of either religion should come forward and participate in this march. We desperately need peace from some goons from our country.

Chamrajnagar, May 30: Karnataka Cabinet Minister Ramesh Jarakiholi said on Friday that over22 Congress MLAs were in touch with him and he can bring five of them.

"More than 22 Congress MLAs are in contact with me and if the high commands wants, I can bring five of them tomorrow," Jarakiholi told reporters.

Replying on speculation that some MLAs in BJP are not happy and want to join the Congress, he said, "Congress is a sinking boat and nobody wants to go to Congress now."

Meanwhile, sources in BJP have said that some party leaders are not happy including Basangouda Ramangouda Patil Yatnal.

Basvanagowda Patil said earlier this week that "BS Yediyurappa is not his CM, he is the CM of Karnataka. My leaders are Narendra Modi and JP Nadda."

The sources also said that other close aides of Yeddyurappa like Umesh Katti and Murugesh Nirani are no longer happy with him as they are yet to be included in the state cabinet.

The sources said Nirani has stood with Yeddyurappa but has not been included in the cabinet. There is speculation that several MLAs are in touch with Nirani.

Sources said Nirani, Umesh Katti, Basvanagowda Patil and several other leaders held a meeting in an undisclosed location.

Congress leader DK Suresh said the Congress has no role in the developments in BJP. "Yeddyurappa government will be brought down by their own MLAs. Congress has no role in it," he said.

Kasaragod, Feb 17: A Kerala Muslim couple conducted the wedding of their Hindu foster daughter at a Bhagavathi temple in Kerala, scripting another tale of communal harmony at Kasaragod.

The wedding ceremony was held on Sunday.

The woman Rajeshwari tied the knot with Vishnu Prasad in the presence of family and friends belonging to both Hindu and Muslim communities.

Abdulla and Khadeeja adopted Rajeshwari after her father who worked at Abdulla's farm died. Rajeshwari's mother also passed away when she was a child.

Rajeshwari grew up alongside Abdulla and Khadeeja's three sons- Shameem, Najeeb and Shereef.

Earlier in January this year, cutting across the lines of religion, a mosque in Kerala's Kayamkulam hosted a Hindu marriage ceremony.
