Riyadh, Jun 27: Shoura Council Speaker Abdullah Al-Asheikh said the Kingdom has placed serving pilgrims among its top priorities.
In remarks on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Asheikh said serving the guests of Allah rests on the Kingdom’s deep belief that it is an honor and responsibility it has pledged to bear in the quest for reward from Allah Almighty.
In this context, the Shoura speaker congratulated the leadership on the success of the Umrah season during the holy month of Ramadan thanks to construction work carried out in the two holy mosques with a view to raising their capacities and facilitating services to the guests of Allah.
Meanwhile, Umrah performers condemned the attempted terror act targeting the Grand Mosque, saying this heinous act is nothing to do with the true Islamic religion and its tolerant principles.
Speaking to local press, Mohammed Abbad, a Tunisian, said Allah has given the Kingdom wise leadership and vigilant security men in a manner that has allowed Umrah performers to peacefully conduct their rituals. He said this group of terrorists has lost their humanity in their attempt to target the sacred house of Allah.

Iraq govt slams US for missile test inside its embassy in Baghdad

Iraq’s deputy parliament speaker Hassan Karim al-Kaabi on Saturday described the move as provocative and in violation of international law.
Kaabi also called on the Iraqi government to take swift measures to halt such actions.
The Embassy’s move to fire in a residential area in the heart of Baghdad is an unacceptable act and another challenge for the Arab country, adding to the mass of its provocations and illegal actions in Iraq, he noted.
According to Iraqi media, the US tested a patriot missile system inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone.
Anti-US sentiments have been running high in Iraq since Washington assassinated top Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani and the second-in-command of the Iraqi popular mobilization units, Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, in January.
Following the attack, Iraqi lawmakers unanimously approved a bill on January 5, demanding the withdrawal of all foreign troops.
Baghdad and Washington are currently in talks over the withdrawal of American troops. Iraqi resistance groups have vowed to take up arms against US forces if Washington fails to comply with the parliamentary order.

Saudi Arabia reports 1,362 new coronavirus cases

Dubai, May 2: Saudi Arabia has confirmed 1,362 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 patients in the country to 25,459, the Ministry of Health reported Saturday.
In the daily media briefing, the ministry announced 7 more deaths and 210 new recoveries, raising the total number of fatalities and recoveries to 176 and 3,765, respectively.
Out of the 1,362 new cases reported today, 249 were confirmed in Medina, 245 in Jeddah, 244 in Mecca, 161 in Riyadh, in addition to 126 infections in Dammam, 81 in Khobar and 80 in Jubail.
Dr. Mohammed Al Abd Al Aly, spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Health reiterated that so far there was no evidence that hot weather will curtail the spread of coronavirus.
Authorities continue to urge people to stay at home unless necessary despite having relaxed some restrictions and curfews at the start of Ramadan.

COVID-19: Saudi Arabia reports 1,325 new cases, 5 deaths

Dubai, Apr 29: Saudi Arabia reported 1,325 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 21,402, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday (April 28).
Meanwhile, the ministry reported 169 recoveries today, with total recoveries in the kingdom at 2,953. There are 125 cases in intensive care.
The ministry also confirmed 5 deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the kingdom to 157.
