A group of friends had recently secured jobs after completing a training programme at Kirloskar.

They hence, decided to go on a pilgrimageto Hornadu Annapoorneshwari temple in Chikkamagaluru district.

Ten of them were travelling in the SUV, a Mahindra Scorpio, while the remaining four drove in a Maruthi Swift. They started their journey from Mandya on Friday at 10.30 pm.

Prasanna was driving the SUV and around 1.30 am they were near the Janivara lake. He lost control over the vehicle at a turn and it plunged into the lake beside the road. Prasanna managed to break open the window and saved two others. Even though the other car, Swift, was just a little distance behind, they did not spot the SUV in the water.

Swamy, a Janivara villager, who was passing by, noticed the vehicle in the pond.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel and the police took the bodies out of the pond.

“I ?don’t work with them (deceased), but we were all friends for the last three years. They would call me ‘Anna’ as I?am older than them. All of them had got jobs at Kirloskar recently. On January 6, one of the deceased and me share our birthdays. So, we planned to celebrate by visiting temples.

As it was too cold and there was thick mist, all the windows were closed and I could not see the right turn. Even though I?applied the break, the vehicle did not stop and plunged into the pond. I?broke open the window and could rescue only two of my friends,” Prasanna explained. Prasanna has sustained injuries on his hands and is undergoing treatment.

Kolkatta, Mar 19: A local leader of BJP has been arrested for organising a cow urine consumption event in Kolkata, claiming that it will protect people from coronavirus or cure those already infected, leading to a civic volunteer falling ill after drinking it.

The police said that 40-year-old Narayan Chatterjee, who had on Monday organised a cow worship programme at a cowshed and distributed cow urine, was arrested following a complaint filed by the victim.

He had vouched for its "miraculous" properties while offering gaumutra to others.

A civic volunteer, who was on duty near the cow shed also consumed gaumutra and fell sick on Tuesday, following which he lodged a complaint with the police against Chatterjee.

Reacting to the arrest, the state BJP leadership criticised the state government.

"Chatterjee had distributed cow urine, but he didn't fool people in consuming it. When he distributed it he clearly said it was cow urine, he didn't force anyone to drink it. It has not been proved whether it is harmful or not.

"So how can just police arrest him without any reason. This is completely undemocratic," state BJP General Secretary Sayantan Basu said.

West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has said there is no harm in drinking cow urine and he has no qualms in admitting he consumes it.

His party colleague and MP Locket Chatterjee, however, differed, terming it an "unscientific belief" that should be shunned.

The cow urine distribution as a cure for coronavirus had drawn sharp criticism from the doctors.

Kochi, Mar 2: The Vatican has rejected the second appeal by Sister Lucy Kalappura -- one of the nuns who protested against rape accused Bishop Franco Mulakkal -- against her expulsion from Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC).

In her plea, she had demanded that her version be heard and her expulsion from FCC revoked.

She was expelled from FCC for participating in public protests demanding the arrest of Franco Mulakkal in the nun rape case.

''I got a letter from Vatican which says my appeal has been rejected. But the rest of the letter is written in the Latin language. So after I understand it, I will respond," Sister Lucy told news agency.

''The authorities are contemptuous of those who make such complaints. That is why the letter is written in Latin. Sister Lucy would continue her legal fight in the courts,'' said George Moolechalil, who has been authorised by Sister Lucy to communicate with the media on her behalf.

A petition of Sister Lucy is still pending at Mananthavady Munsif Court at Wayanad that demands that she should not be expelled from the convent where she is staying.

Religious issues should be resolved within the guidelines of devine laws.

Unfortunately the Chrisitianity is no more in its originality.

The holy bible has been systematically abused and edited to the benefits of rulers.

The book has been contaminated with lots of editions.

People should search for truth and follow it.

Example, the religion never told to remain unmarried for priests or nuns.

They go against its teaching inveting their own idea against God's teaching.
