‘Sharath Amar Rahe’: Slain RSS activist laid to rest amidst tears, encomiums

Mangaluru, Jul 8: Thousands of grief-stricken men and women, most of them activists of Sangh Parivar on Saturday bid a tearful adieu to Sharath Madivala, a 28-year-old RSS activist, who breathed his last at a hospital in Mangaluru last night after losing his three-day long fight for life.

The mortal remains of Sharath was taken from Mangaluru to his home town, Sajipa Munnur, in Bantwal taluk in a procession by thousands of Hindutva activists in spite of the enforcement of the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code across the district.

The procession caused chaos in BC Road, wherein some miscreants pelted stones at shops and vehicles belonging to a minority community. However, police managed to bring the situation under control by resorting to minor baton charge.

In spite of the opposition by police, the mortal remains were kept for public viewing for a few minutes in front of the ‘Udaya Laundry’ in BC Road where Sharath was stabbed by the three unidentified miscreants on July 4.

Tears rolled down the eyes of RSS stalwart Prabhakar Bhat and his wife when they entered the ambulance and paid floral tribute to the mortal remains of the young and innocent ‘karyakarta’ of the Sangh. The mourners, who had gathered on both sides of the road too paid an emotional tribute to the departed soul by repeatedly chanting ‘Sharath Amar Rahe’.

Final rites

The funeral rites of Sharath took place at a garden located in front of his house at Kandur in Sajipa Munnur after an hour-long public viewing in the village. Thaniyappa Madivala, the victim’s father, lit the pyre in the presence of thousands of mourners and Sangh Parivar leaders.

After the cremation, a mourning meet was also held in the village. RSS leader Na Seetharam, speaking on the occasion urged the people not to lose their patience and to face the situation bravely. He said that society needed thousands of ‘patriots’ like Sharath.

Father breaks silence

A shell-shocked father blamed his own fate while expressing anger towards the government, which according to him failed to catch the real culprits.
“This is my bad luck. My son Sharath always helped me and tried to solve my problems. He was a hard worker. He never troubled anybody. People had a good opinion of him,” he said.

“The government is not capable of punishing the culprits. The killers will walk free within six months after their arrest,” he complained.

Bengaluru , Mar 21: Karnataka Congress President DK Shivakumar exuded confidence that the party will return to power in the state and praised former chief minister Siddaramaiah's term.

"I am confident that we will come back to power. Everyone in the past has worked their best to build the party. Siddaramaiah being a full-term chief minister gave the best programs to Karnataka, his government's programs were the best of all time," Shivakumar said at a press conference on Friday.

He further assured his full support to anyone who wanted to work for the betterment of the party.

"Though I have become the state president of the party but I am still the worker of Congress and each of us should work for the party as ground workers. I am ready to give any kind of support to those who want to work for the party. We need to take all caste, communities along for the betterment of the party," he said.

Shivakumar was appointed the state Congress President on March 11, while Eshwar Khandre, Satish Jarkiholi, and Saleem Ahmed have been appointed working presidents of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee.

Bengaluru,  Aug 4: Former Karnataka Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Siddaramaiah on Tuesday said that he has tested positive for COVID-19 and admitted himself to a hospital.

"I have been tested positive for COVID-19 and also been admitted to the hospital on the advice of doctors as a precaution. I request all those who had come in contact with me to check out for symptoms and to quarantine themselves," Siddaramaiah tweeted.

Earlier on Sunday, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had said that he tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

4,752 new COVID-19 cases and 98 deaths were reported in Karnataka on Monday, taking total cases to 1,39,571 including 62,500 discharges and 2,594 deaths, the State Health Department informed.

Bengaluru, June 2: A television anchor allegedly committed suicide after her boyfriend refused to marry her.

29-year-old Chandana V K made a selfie video before taking the extreme step, in which she blamed her boyfriend Dinesh for her decision.

The Suddaguntepalya police have taken up a case of abetment to suicide against Dinesh and his family, including his father Lokappa Gowda, mother Gayatri, sister Shyla and uncle Swamy alias Dayananda. The police have formed a team to nab the accused who are absconding.

Chandana, who used to also appear in real estate advertisements, was a resident of Krishnamurthy Layout in Tavarekere. She hailed from Belur in Hassan district.

According to a preliminary investigation, Chandana consumed poison after making the video.

In the video clip addressed to Dinesh, she says: "You said if I die, it is good for you. So, I am ending my life and you are the reason for it, Dinesh." She sent the clip to Dinesh, his parents, her parents and friends around 2.30 pm on May 28.

On seeing the video, Chandana's parents alerted her neighbours and asked them to go check on her. They took her to a private hospital where she died while undergoing treatment around 12.30 am on May 30.

In his police complaint, Chandana’s father said his daughter and Dinesh were in a relationship for the past five years. Dinesh had promised to marry her and both the families were aware of the relationship.

Dinesh had borrowed Rs 5 lakh from Chandana. But for the past few months, he began avoiding her and even refused to marry her. His family members told Chandana that they would get him married to someone else, the complaint said. The police said action would be initiated taken against Dinesh and his family.
