Bengaluru, Oct 5: Taking on Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for his remark that his was ‘kam ki bath’ as against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘man ki bath’, Bharatiya Janata Party State general secretary Shobha Karandlaje has alleged that it had become ‘loot ki bath’ in Congress-ruled Karnataka.

At a press conference in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Shobha Karandlaje alleged that there were irregularities in implementation of various State and Central schemes. She charged the state government with violating rules while awarding contract for the Mathru Poorna scheme meant to meet the nutritional needs of pregnant and lactating women in rural areas.

“The contract has been given to Veda Pharma, which had quoted the highest bid. What is the secret behind this?” she asked. Besides, the state government has claimed the scheme as its own while it was totally sponsored by the Centre.

Shobha accused the Siddaramaiah government of calling for tender for Rs 460 crore for issuing universal health cards without following Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurement norms. “I am told Health Minister Ramesh Kumar is not aware of this contract as it is being directly handled by the chief minister. I wonder why Ramesh Kumar is silent on this issue,” she said.

She demanded that Siddaramaiah government furnish answers to the charges of corruption or order a CBI probe.

She charged that Rs 434 crore that the Centre had allotted for Karnataka AIDS Prevention Society was recalled by the Union government because of absence an action plan on the part of the state government.

The BJP leader charged that there has been misappropriation of funds in the setting up of Indira Canteens in Bengaluru. There has been misappropriation of Rs 20 lakh per canteen, she said.

There has been corruption in the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) too, she said The cost to remove garbage per ward is Rs 14 lakh whereas it is being cleared by paying Rs 1.04 crore per ward, she claimed.

“An amount of Rs 584 crore is being drawn for salary of 34,000 pourakarmikas whereas there are only 11,000 pourakarmikas in Bengaluru as per the report submitted Chairman of the State Safai Karmachari Commission. What is happening to the extra amount?” Shobha asked.

She claimed that mechanical sweepers had been purchased by the BBMP at a cost of Rs 45 crore recently, but these have going “missing.” A tender for Rs 604 crore has again been called for purchase of more such vehicles, she said.

Bengalur, May 15: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr CN Ashwath Narayan on Friday said that stern action will be taken against the persons responsible for organising the village temple fair in Ramanagara district.

"Stern action will be taken against the person responsible for organising the festival. This should not have happened," the Deputy CM said.

They had taken permission for gathering from Panchayat Development Officer NC Kalmatt.

Kalmatt has been suspended by Ramanagara Deputy Commissioner following a report by the Tehsildar.

Meanwhile, 45 more COVID-19 cases have been reported from Karnataka, taking the total number of coronavirus cases in the state to 1,032 on Friday, according to the state Health Department.

Bengaluru, Jun 20: Former Chief Minister and Congress Legislative Party leader Siddaramaiah has slammed BJP leader and former Congress MP and MLA H Vishwanath for blaming him for not getting MLC ticket.

Siddaramaiah said, "H Vishwanath is neither a fool nor intelligent, that's why he's blaming me for not getting ticket. He is in BJP and I'm in congress how will I influence his ticket."

He also slammed Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa, "Yediyurappa is toothless to speak to PM and asking for funds which need to be allotted to Karnataka including 5,049 crores, which 15th finance Commission suggested."

"No pro-people schemes must be stopped including Indira canteen, Yediyurappa thinks Indira canteen will bring good name to me that's why this government is trying to stop it," he added.

He was speaking after a protest organised at Mysuru against the hike in fuel prices.

Bengaluru, Jul 11: Karantaka Congress chief DK Shivakumar on Friday raised questions over claims that Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project Madhya Pradesh was "largest in Asia" and said a 2000 MW had been built in the state.

"BJP central government is claiming today that it inaugurated Asia's largest solar plant of 750 MW at Rewa, MP. What then is the 2000 MW Solar Plant in Pavagada, Karnataka which was built in just 3 years by Karnataka Congress government and has been operational since 2018?" Shivakumar said in a tweet.

The Congress leader further said that the most unique thing about the solar project set up in Karnataka was that the farmers were being paid yearly rents for the land upon which it was constructed as it had been leased and not purchased from them, helping them retain ownership.

"The unique thing about the 2000 MW Pavagada Mega Solar Park was that not a single acre of land was acquired from the farmers. All 13,000 acres have been leased from the farmers who are being given yearly rent. Karnataka model of renewable energy was accepted as the best in India," he said.

"Union power minister must answer as to how the Central Government can claim that the Rewa Solar Park (750 MW) opened today is Asia's largest when clearly the Pavagada Park in Karnataka is much larger (2000 MW) and was opened two years back!" he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project to the nation on Friday.
