Mysuru, Apr 2: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday, challenged BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa himself contest from Varuna Assembly segment if the latter was so sure of victory.

Siddaramaiah's son Dr Yathindra, is likely to be the Congress candidate from Varuna.

When quizzed by reporters about speculation that the BJP was planning to field Yeddyurappa's son B Y Vijayendra from Varuna constituency, the CM said, that the people would vote for those who worked for the constituency and nobody else.

"What contribution has Yeddyurappa has made to Varuna? It is me who worked for the people of the region. People will vote for those who worked for the constituency," Siddaramaiah asserted.

Siddaramaiah also questioned Yeddyurappa's 'connection' to the Varuna constituency. "People think before they vote," he remarked.

"If my son contests, voters will not support Yathindra just because he is my (CM'S) son. They will consider the work done for the segment by me as CM," Siddaramaiah claimed.

And everything happened in last 4 years. For example, today our steel production is 100 MT/year, even in 2013-14 it was 81 MT/year... BTW, we are number 3 in steel production, not number 2.

CONGRESS be care full As elections time is just 8 hours , all police controls from central, and BJP contrles EVMS as they did in UP, so with that kind of winning by manuplation is to be watched out carefully with Cameras installed at necessary or on whole locations focussing the EV machines.

Mangaluru, Jan 18: Congress leader Siddaramaiah targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah soon after he arrived in Bengaluru on Saturday, demanding his answers on various questions pertaining to the state.

In a slew of tweets under the #AnswerMadiShah banner, Siddaramaiah raised issues ranging from the August 2019 floods to the recent police shootout in Mangaluru that killed two people during an anti-CAA protest.

On December 19, Jaleel (45) and Nausheen (24) were killed after the police opened fire during a protest against the CAA.

“Two innocent victims were killed in Mangaluru in what public opinion says that it is a fake encounter. You are the Home Minister of the country. Don't you think adequate investigation has to take place when people cry foul about the incident?” Siddaramaiah asked.

He further asked: “Mr Amit Shah, before investing time to brainwash people to accept your divisive policies, why don't you visit flood-affected areas again and assess if the Central government funds  are sufficient or not?”

The Congress leader pointed out that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had claimed that Karnataka suffered losses of over Rs 35,000 crore due to the floods. “But your aid is just Rs 1,870 crore. When are you planning to give the remaining? Will there be any funds left after the implementation of CAA, NPR & NRC?” he added.

The former chief minister brought up the Mahadayi river water sharing dispute. It may be recalled that Shah, in the run-up to the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2018, had promised a resolution to the dispute within six months if BJP was voted to power in the state.

“Mr. Amit Shah, your colleagues give contradictory statements on the initiation of Mahadayi project. Why is there a change in stance after elections? What is your stand on the issue,” Siddaramaiah asked.

Udupi, Jan 16: Admar Mutt Junior seer Eshapriya Theertha Swami is all set to take over the reins of Krishna Mutt during the 250th Paryayotsava, scheduled to be held on January 17 and 18.

The uniqueness lies in the fact that the Admar Mutt, one of the Ashta Mutts of Krishna Mutt in this Temple town Udupi, ushers in the new Paryaya cycle (32nd). The Paryaya of outgoing seer Vidyadheesha Theertha Swami of Palimaru Mutt, Admar’s dwandwa (associate) mutt, marks the end of the cycle of eight mutts.

Under the system initiated by the Madhwa philosopher and saint Madwacharya, the seers of Ashta mutts would take turns to worship Lord Krishna every two months. Seer Vadiraja (1481-1601) ended the system and introduced the system of f running the temple administration once in two years.
