Belagavi, Dec 9: Describing chief minister Siddaramaiah as anti-Hindu BJP national general secretary and Karnataka in-charge Muralidhar Rao has accused him of joining hands with those who raise anti-nationals slogans.

Speaking to presspersons on the sidelines of a cadre development camp of the party’s booth-level units in Belagavi, Mr Rao also claimed that Siddaramaiah was turning Karnataka into another Kashmir.

“Mr. Siddaramaiah is joining hands with groups that chant anti-national slogans. That is because his politics is vote bank-based and not development-based. He is keen on organising Tipu Jayanti despite strong opposition to it from nationalist groups. Law and order has collapsed in Karnataka. Miscreants have killed 14 BJP workers but the government is sitting quiet. Congress leaders think we are their enemies and not political opponents. They act as if they have the mentality of terrorists,” he said.

To a query on BJP MLA Umesh Katti's 'haramkhor' remark against the party leaders, Rao said, "Katti had scolded his own party leaders unlike Congress leaders..."

Rao, however, said that disciplinary action would be taken against the party workers or leaders who speak ill of leaders or party that would damage the interests of the party. He added that he would comment after speaking with Katti.

He said that B.S. Yeddyurappa was a senior leader in Karnataka BJP and felt no other party had a leader of that stature. For the sake of making Karnataka a Congress-free State, BJP was moving ahead with combined leadership. “Our rallies are showing that the people are fed up of the Congress,” he said.

Bengaluru, Mar 24: Underlining the seriousness of the coronavirus, which is spreading like wildfire in Karnataka, renowned Heart Surgeon and founder of Narayana Hrudayalaya Dr Devi Shetty on Tuesday predicted that Karnataka alone will have more than 80,000 people affected with the dreaded killer disease COVID-19 if people fail to protect themselves.

He urged the people to cooperate with the Government in preventing its further spread and immediately treat those who are affected.

Dr Shetty, urging the people to remain indoors and not to venture out, said those who are affected should not come out and remain in isolation even in their houses and take all precautions advised by doctors.

He said if 80,000 people in the state were affected, more than 20,000 need to be admitted to Hospital for treatment.

"More than 2000 affected need to be kept under ventilation and it requires more infrastructure in the hospitals," he said.
