Siddaramaiah slams Modi for his lies and false claims during Bengaluru rally

Bengaluru, Feb 5: Hitting back at Narendra Modi for his all-out attack on his Congress government, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday accused him of telling a "tissue of lies" and said he was "morally not fit" to be prime minister.

"He did not speak as prime minister. He has uttered a tissue of lies and made baseless and irresponsible allegations," Siddaramaiah said in an angry rebuttal to a litany of charges by Modi at a BJP rally here yesterday. He said the "countdown has begun for Narendra Modi," citing the results of Rajasthan by-polls in which the ruling BJP faced an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Congress which won two Lok Sabha seats and one assembly segment.

This came as a retort to Modi's assertion that the countdown for the exit of the Siddaramaiah government had begun and it was at the exit gate.

Sounding the poll bugle for the upcoming Assembly polls in Karnataka, Modi had accused the Siddaramaiah government of creating new records in corruption and dubbed it a "10 per cent commission government."

"If they have evidence to prove, let them furnish the documents under which project or scheme corruption happened," the chief minister said.

Raising the issue of murders of several BJP and Sangh Parivar activists, Modi had alleged criminals were ruling the roost and "ease of doing murders" was being discussed in the state while his government talked of ease of doing business.

"He (Modi) has accused the government of taking 10 per cent commission in all the schemes and programmes. This is the most baseless and irresponsible allegation," he told reporters.

Giving a point-by-point rebuttal, he said "Modi as a prime minster has lied to the people of the state and misled them by giving wrong information. According to me, he has denigrated his position."

Asked if he thought Modi was fit to continue as prime minister as he had accused him of lying, he said, "according to me, he is morally not (fit) to be prime minister."

Attacking Modi for the corruption jibe, he said BJP state chief B S Yeddyurappawas seated next to him at the rally and the prime minister should have known about what all happened during his term as chief minister.

Yeddyurappa had gone to jail and similarly former BJP ministers Katta Subramanya Nadu, Krishnaiah Shetty and Janardhan Reddy too went to jail duing the BJP rule.

He said by projecting the person who had gone to jail and indulged in "looting" as chief minister, (apparently referring to Yeddyurappa), Modi had shown disrespect to the people of Karnataka. "I strongly condemn it." He said during Modi's chief ministership in Gujarat, the Lokayukta was not appointed for nine years because of the fear that their alleged corruption deeds would come out in the open.

They did not appoint Lokayukta because of the fear that their illegal help to industrialists would come out. Even now after coming to power at the Centre, they have not appointed Lokpal, he said. Siddaramaiah said as the prime minister of the country, "stooping to the level" of Yeddyurappa and making "baseless" allegations was the "most shameful" thing. Terming BJP's rule in the state from 2008 to 2013 as the government of "looters", Siddaramaiah said, "I'm not saying this for the sake of making allegations." On the alleged illegal mining scam during the BJP rule in the state, he said, "Yeddyurappa was next to him (Modi), who had also gone to jail, keeping him beside (accusing) fingers were shown at us. This is highly irresponsible and politically motivated statement." There was no other thing that was more shameful than this, he added.

He also refuted the charges made by the BJP that his government was being "soft" towards "Jihadi forces" whom it had blamed for the killings of Hindu, BJP and Sangh Parivar activists. Asserting that Karnataka had maintained number one position in various spheres, he said despite all this, Modi was claiming there was no law and order in the state.

"Let Modi check top 10 states in the country where law and order issue was more severe," he said. He said BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajastan, Gujarat, Haryana and Maharashtra and Bihar (in coalition with JDU) topped the list. "He is not just Narendra Modi. He is the prime minister of this country... he should have noted other states when he spoke about law and order in Karnataka," Siddaramaiah said. Accusing Modi of making the charges out of malice with the coming polls in mind and to cover up the "loot" by the earlier BJP government, he also reminded Modi about the post-Godhra violence and alleged lawlessness in BJP-ruled states. He also hit out at BJP President Amit Shah, saying he was made an accused in a fake encounter case and went to jail. Shah was subsequently discharged by a CBI court in Mumbai.

The chief minister said there were expectations that the prime minister would speak about waiving of loan obtained by farmers from nationalised and scheduled banks and on the Mahadayi issue over which the state is locked in a dispute with Goa.

He rejected the claims that excess amount was given to Karnataka under the 14th finance commission, maintaining that what has been provided to the state was as per the constitutional mandate which was "our share."

He said Modi had come here to make a political speech keeping elections in mind. "Even if he comes here 100 times or Amit Shah tries to instigate communal tension, people have decided to bring Congress back to power" he said.

Well done Siddaramiah ji. Time & again Modiji proved that he is an ordinary Sanghi and BJP PM. If he (Modji)  dare to do a falsification test and apply to himself and BJP all allegations made against Siddujii, Modji may not find an inch of place to hide his nose. How long these set of people rule the nation on lies, deceit, scams, threat, emotional issues and dividing the people.

Sidduji, YOUR government's achievements should reach to all people of Karnataka. Please ask your MLA's, leaders and spokespersons to open their mouth, speak up and expose BJP lies and misrule. Let your party leaders come out from their deep slumber and fear of one man show. Pay them by the same coin.

Dubai, May 30: Taking advantage of Vande Bharat Mission, a notorious NRI conman has fled to India through a repatriation flight after duping several businessmen in United Arab Emirates and stealing goods worth nearly six million dirhams.

Yogesh Ashok Yariava, 36, owner of the fraudulent Royal Luck Foodstuff Trading and prime suspect in the audacious scam took a flight to Hyderabad from Abu Dhabi on May 11 with around 170 repatriates.

His mandatory two-week quarantine period would have ended on May 25, but for his 40 odd victims a protracted battle for justice has just begun.

Last Wednesday many of them trooped down to the Indian Consulate office in Dubai in the hope of getting an audience with Consul General Vipul. The following day they went to Bur Dubai police station clutching dud bank cheques.

In a replay of the familiar trading scam, conmen representing Royal Luck Foodstuff approached unsuspecting traders and made bulk purchases against post-dated cheques.

They bought anything they could get their hands on: Facemasks, hand sanisters and medical gloves worth nearly half a million dirhams from Skydent Medical Equipment, Raheeq Laboratories and GSA Star; rice and nuts (Dh393,000) from Al Baraka Foods; tuna, pistachios and saffron (Dh300,725) from Yes Buy General Trading; French fries and mozzarella cheese (Dh229,000) from Mehdu General Trading; frozen Indian beef (Dh207,000) from Al Ahbab General Trading and halwa and tahina (Dh52812) from Emirates Sesame Factory. It’s a long list and it keeps getting longer as more victims come forward.

When their post-dated cheques started bouncing, the traders rushed to Royal Luck’s Opal Tower office in Business Bay. But it was too late. They had shut down and all their 18 staffers had disappeared. Visits to their warehouses also drew a blank.

“Calls made to the company’s sweet-talking purchase managers who visited us days earlier carrying fancy business cards remained unanswered,” said Chandrasekaran Ganesan of Ajman-based Skydent Medical Equipment which supplied protective face masks worth Dh175,875.

Another business owner, Anand Asar said he visited Royal Luck’s office after his cheque of Dh79,552 returned marked insufficient funds. “The security guard at the building told us their staff was last seen on May 17,” said Asar who has since lodged a police complaint.

“I am devastated. I don’t know how I will recover my losses,” said another trader.

Victims reckon the ill-gotten goods have been sold to third parties at dirt cheap prices.

“They have got millions of dirhams worth of goods against worthless pieces of paper. The scammers would rack up huge profits even if they sell our stuff for one tenth their price,” said another trader who pegged his losses at Dh200,000.

The scam comes close on the heels a Dh4 million fruit loot in which 810 tonnes of fruits shipped by Indian exporters to OPC Foodstuff Trading in Deira, Dubai were similarly stolen last month.

Legal adviser Salam Pappinisseri from Sharjah based United Advocates that represents five firms which have collectively lost over Dh550,000 said they are weighing legal action against the prime suspect Yogesh Ashok Variava in both India and the UAE.

“Yogesh, originally from Mumbai, absconded from the UAE with large amounts of money on an emergency evacuation flight. It’s strange that the fraudster got a seat in the flight which was meant to bring stranded Indian citizens who had registered with the Indian embassy and consulate requesting repatriation on urgent grounds,” said Pappinisseri.

Bidar, Jan 31: In a disturbing development, the police have arrested two women – a schoolteacher and mother of two students – in connection with staging a play against the Citizenship Amendment Act and National Register of Citizens at a prestigious school in Karnataka’s Bidar.

The arrested have been identified as Farida Begum, headmistress of Shaheen Urdu Medium Primary School, and Navida, the mother of a student who played a role in the play.

The development comes days after police filed a sedition case against the management of Shaheen School following a complaint lodged by the ABVP claiming that play contained objectionable dialogues against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The drama was performed during an annual function of the school on January 21.

Bidar SP Sreedhara T confirmed the arrest of Farida Begum and Navida, and said the accused were remanded to judicial custody on Thursday.

Sreedhara said that based on the complaint by one Neelesh Rakshal, the police filed an FIR under sedition charges, initially against the headmistress and management of the school on Saturday. He said that the police have questioned about 50 people, including the members of the management committee of Shaheen Urdu Medium Primary School, staff of the school, audience, parents and students. Based on the statements and evidence, the headmistress and the parent have been arrested.

The SP said that as per the statements and evidence collected, they came to know that the headmistress played a major role in organising the controversial play. The students practised the drama for a week and the headmistress knew about its script containing controversial dialogues against the Prime Minister and senior BJP leaders.

Considering this, she has been booked for creating communal disharmony and abetting sections. The SP said that when a dialogue of slapping the Prime Minister was said on the stage, Navida gave her chappals to the child, to be used while saying the dialogue. She has been arrested for abetting.

Expressing shock over sedition case and arrests, Dr Abdul Qadeer, the chairman of Shaheen Group of Institutions, said that the school management would fight out legally.

About Shaheen Group

Founded by Dr Abdul Qadeer, Shaheen Group has spread its wings through nine states of India and runs 43 institutions and related units. It has also been running a unique course for Huffaz named as ‘Hifz Ul Quran Plus’ in which Huffaz are prepared to appear and excel in competitive exams (NEET-JEE(IIT)).

According to Dr Qadeer, Shaheen’s mission is to engage, educate and empower wards, equipping them with strengths to enter the world of opportunities through free education across various domains in state- owned academic centers of excellence.

The group also runs coaching centers for medical and engineering entrance examinations. So far 1,200 students from the Shaheen Group of institutions got seats in government medical colleges, he said.

‘Hifz Ul Quran Plus’ course was for huffaz between 12 and 17 years. A four-year integrated course is conducted for Huffaz-E-Karam for getting students modern education. By pursuing this course and by appearing in competitive exams (NEET-IIT JEE), Huffaz will be able to get admission into MBBS, BE, & MBA, he said.
