Bengaluru, Jul 9: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Yathindra Siddaramaiah has joined the Congress party.
The 34-year-old Yathindra registered himself as a resident of Varuna Assembly constituency in Mysuru, which his father currently represents as MLA. Yathindra’s move adds credence to speculation in political circles that he may take a plunge into electoral politics in the next Assembly elections.
“He (Yathindra) took membership of the party two months ago. But he has not been given any position in the party,” Mysuru district Youth Congress president B J Vijaykumar told this paper. The state unit of the Congress had so far kept it under wraps.
It is speculated in the state Congress circles that Yathindra may contest from Varuna constituency, while his father may shift back to Chamundeshwari constituency. Yathindra has been nurturing Varuna constituency for the past one year. The state government recently nominated Yathindra as chairman of the Vigilance Committee of Varuna constituency to monitor implementation of various housing projects.
