Snap ties with RSS if want to connect to Muslims: Cong to Modi

February 7, 2014

Kapil_SibalNew Delhi, Feb 7: As BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi reaches out to Muslims through a business conclave for them in Gujarat, Congress today said if he is really keen on taking everyone along, then he should severe ties with RSS.

Rubbishing BJP's attempts to woo Muslim community, Law Minister Kapil Sibal said BJP seemingly has "one face for the elections while there are various other faces working behind the scene."

"If they want to take everyone along, then they should change their policies. Modi should say he has no links with RSS," Sibal told reporters.

Modi inaugurated a three-day business conclave in Ahmedabad today, to provide a platform for Muslim entrepreneurs to network with their Hindu counterparts.

To buttress its points that "BJP has many faces" Sibal cited the controversial interview of Swami Aseemanand, an accused in the Samjhauta Express and other blast cases, in which he claimed that the RSS had "sanctioned" the terror acts.

New Delhi, Apr 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said India's efforts to combat coronavirus have set an example and it is among countries which understood the pandemic's seriousness and took various timely decisions to combat the virus.

Addressing BJP workers to mark the 40th foundation day of the party, he also appreciated the maturity shown by people during the lockdown, describing it as  unprecedented.

"We got to see our collective strength on Sunday evening," he said referring to the countrywide exercise to switch off lights and illuminate diyas for nine minutes to show India's collective strength to fight the deadly virus.

He also urged BJP workers to follow a five-point agenda, including working to ensure that no poor goes hungry.

He asked them to follow the guidelines issued by party president J P Nadda.

Fight against coronavirus is no less than war, Modi said, asking BJP workers to donate and encourage others to contribute to the PM-CARES fund.
