Someone is 'dreaming' of becoming Hitler: Pawar on Modi

New Delhi, Apr 13:NCP supremo Sharad Pawar today stepped up his attack on Narendra Modi, saying the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate is "dreaming" of becoming Hitler and asked people to foil his "attempt" in the Lok Sabha polls. sharad_powar

"Someone is dreaming to become Hitler in this country. We shouldn't allow such forces to succeed. We must foil his attempt in this elections," he tweeted, without naming Modi.

Pawar, the Union Agriculture Minister, also took a dig at the Gujarat Chieef Minister in connection with his remarks on Quit India Movement.

"According to NaMo, Gandhiji launched Quit India Movement from Wardha.... Thank god he didn't say that it was launched from Ahmedabad...!"

Attacking BJP on women's reservation, Pawar also tweeted, "We want to give 50% reservation to women in legislature. BJP leaders always made fun of it in private. How will they run this nation...?"

Modi is under attack from several non-BJP leaders during the course of the high voltage Lok Sabha campaign.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has accused Modi of indulging in divisive politics by "sowing seeds of poison" while party vice president Rahul Gandhi accused him of practicing "politics of anger".

BSP chief Mayawati has called Modi a slayer of humanity while West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee termed him as a person "with stain of riots on his hands", and said he can never become the prime minister of the country.

Odisha Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has also described Modi as a "controversial" prime ministerial candidate who is not "healthy" for the country due to his communal background.

Samajwadi Party(SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav has also targeted Modi in connection with the 2002 Gujarat riots.

New Delhi, May 21: As many as 5,609 new COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 1,12,359 according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Out of the total cases, 63,624 are active cases, 45,300 patients have been cured/discharged or have migrated and 3,435 deaths have been reported.

With 39,297 cases in total, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (13,191 cases), Gujarat (12,537 cases), and Delhi (11,088 cases).

The nationwide lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus has been extended till May 31.

New Delhi, April 4: With 355 new cases reported in the last 12 hours, India's tally of coronavirus positive cases rose to 2,902, said the ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday.

Out of 2,902 cases, 2,650 are active cases and 184 have been cured or discharged or have migrated.

The total number of deaths reported due to the disease rose to 68 on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Maharashtra is the worst-hit state with 423 cases. Tamil Nadu is the next most affected state with 411 cases.

The number of COVID-19 cases in Delhi also rose to 386.

The Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi has emerged as a hotspot for COVID-19 after several positive cases from across India were linked to the gathering including deaths in Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana.

An FIR was earlier registered against Tablighi Jamaat head Maulana Saad and others under the Epidemic Disease Act 1897, in the national capital.

New Delhi, Jun 4: India on Thursday witnessed a record single-day spike of 9,304 coronavirus cases taking the country's tally to 2,16,919, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The ministry informed that 260 more deaths due to coronavirus were reported in the last 24 hours.

The total number of cases in the country now stands at 2,16,919 including 1,06,737 active cases, 1,04,107 cured/discharged/migrated and 6,075 deaths.

Maharashtra has so far reported 74,860 cases, more than any other state in the country.

In Tamil Nadu, 25,872 cases have been detected so far while Delhi has reported 23,645 coronavirus cases.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 1,39,485 samples were tested in the last 24 hours whereas 42,42,718 samples have been tested till date.
