Sonakshi Sinha lashes out at Deepika Padukone

April 2, 2015

Mumbai, Mar 2: Reacting to Deepika Padukone’s latest women empowerment video, ‘My Choice’, Sonkasi Sinha said that having sex outside marriage is not empowerment. Some section of the society might be lauding Deepika Padukone for effectively sending out a strong message about women empowerment and her choice to lead life in her own way but few people slammed the actress and among them was Sonakshi Sinha.

Sonakshi SinhaThe ‘Dabangg’ girl is totally against Deepika’s ‘MY Choice’ empowerment video directed by Homi Adajania.

On being asked about her opinion on the video, Sonakshi said, “Women empowerment is not always about the kind of clothes you wear, not about who you want to have sex with or stuff like that. It’s about employment, strength.” Disapproving of the ideas being portrayed as women empowerment,

Sonakshi further said, “It’s a very good initiative. It’s coming from a good space, but honestly I believe empowerment should be given to the women who actually need it, who are kind of far away from where we are right now. We have been bred and brought up with luxury.”

“Women empowerment should reach out to people who actually need it, like the deep ends of this country,” said Sonkashi as she signed off.

Deepika Padukone’s ‘My Choice’ is getting mixed response on social media. In the video, the ‘Ram Leela’ actress speaks about women’s freedom of choice and asked the world not to interfere in a women’s decision and let her live life on her own terms and take her own decisions.

She said it is her choice of what she wants to wear or what she wants to do with her life. A women is an individual and she has all the right to take her own decision regarding her life, career, marriage, children, sex etc.

Indore, Jan 14: Yoga guru Ramdev has said that Deepika Padukone should hire persons like him for offering correct advice, days after the actress had visited Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi following the violence at the campus earlier this month.

"Deepika Padukone needs to study about political, social and cultural issues. She should understand more about our country. Only after gaining knowledge, she should take decisions. I feel she should have persons like Swami Ramdev for correct advice," Ramdev said at an event here on Monday.

On January 7, Padukone joined the protest at JNU after a masked mob entered the varsity campus and attacked the students and teachers with sticks and rods on January 5.

Several BJP leaders questioned the support extended by Padukone. On the other hand, the Congress threw their weight behind the actress for her stand.

Washington D.C., Mar 1: British actor Daniel Radcliffe in a recent interview said he is not rushing back to reprise the role of young wizard, Harry Potter, anytime soon.

The 30-year-old star who rose to fame with the first eight films in J.K. Rowling's famed franchise, told Variety that he doesn't like to say no to things but reprising the role in the 'Fantastic Beasts' prequels is not something he's "rushing to do".

"I feel like those films have moved on and they're doing just fine without us. I'm happy to keep it that way. I like what my life is now," Radcliffe told the outlet.

"I'm not saying that I'll never go back into any franchise, but I like the flexibility that I have with my career now. And I don't want to get into a situation where I'm signed up for one series for years in advance," cited Variety as Radcliffe as saying.

Radcliffe is currently gearing up for his upcoming mystery-thriller 'Escape from Pretoria,' a true-life prison drama, where he is set to essay the character Tim Jenkin.

The forthcoming flick is set to hit the theatres on March 6.
