Sonakshi Sinha: Ranveer Singh will win all awards for 'Bajirao Mastani'

Mumbai, Jan 5: While Ranveer Singh is basking in the glory of his performance in 'Bajirao Mastani', actress Sonakshi Sinha feels the actor is going to sweep all the awards this year.

sonakshiRanveer essayed the role of Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao 1 in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed period-drama. When asked which performances she liked in the year 2015, Sonakshi told reporters, "Varun (Dhawan) did a fantastic job in 'Badlapur', actually the entire team of Nawazuddin, Yami and Divya Dutta. Other than that, I think Ranveer in Bajirao was something else. I have no words for it. I think he is going to win all the awards this year."

The 28-year-old actress was speaking at the press conference of 61st Britannia Filmfare Awards 2015. Sonakshi, who made her Bollywood debut opposite superstar Salman Khan in 'Dabangg', said she never wanted to be an actress but 'Chak De India' and 'Aaja Nachle' were two films that inspired her.

"Growing up I never wanted to be an actor. I neither grew up on films, nor on watching performances... But, when I was in school or college, 'Chak De India' had released. The actor who played the 'hatti-katti' Punjabi hockey player, I saw that and thought it would be fun to play this role."That was the first instance I ever imagined myself wanting to play a role. Other than that, 'Aaja Nachle' of Madhuri Dixit, I watched the entire film and I was blown. I said if I'll dance I'll dance like that (in the film) otherwise I won't."

The actress is currently elated with the response to her maiden single 'Aaj mood Ishqholic hai' and plans to sing more songs in the future. "I don't want it to be a one-off thing. Music i something I am very passionate about. The response to the song has been fantastic so that gives me the confidence to do more in that space, do more songs. It's basically a passion project," she added.

Mumbai, Jun 15: Actor Sushant Singh Rajput's brother-in-law O.P. Singh, who is the Additional Director General of Police and posted as Special Officer in the Haryana Chief Minister's Office, suspected some foul play in the crime, it is reliably learnt on Monday. He is seeking a thorough probe into the incident.

"Sushant Singh Rajput has been murdered, he cannot commit suicide. I demand CBI enquiry into the matter," Jan Adhikar Party Chief Pappu Yadav told media persona at the actor’s residence in Patna, where his family resides.

The 34-year-old actor was found hanging at his apartment in Mumbai's Bandra on Sunday.

His sister lives in Chandigarh.

State officials said Singh has left for Mumbai soon he came to know about the suicide incident.

Expressing condolences, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said actor Rajput's death is an "irreparable loss" to not only the film industry but also for the entire society.

New Delhi, Jun 27: Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Friday condemned the alleged custodial deaths of a man and his son who were arrested for allegedly violating lockdown restrictions in Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu on June 19.

The 37-year-old actor who is currently staying with her husband Nick Jonas in America took to Twitter to post her statement and asked for the guilty to be punished.

"Reeling from what I'm hearing. Absolutely stunned, sad, and angry. No human being deserves such brutality, whatever be their crime," said Jonas.

"The guilty must not be allowed to go unpunished. We need facts. I cannot even begin to imagine what the family must be going through," she added.

Priyanka went on to urge people to use their collective voice to seek justice for the deceased.

"Sending strength and prayers. We need to use our collective voices to seek #JusticeForJayarajandBennicks," her statement further read.

The father-son duo from Tuticorin was allegedly brutally punished by the police before succumbing to injuries.

New Delhi Apr 10:  Actor Salman Khan on Friday thanked people for staying indoors and shared two pictures, first showing Bada Qabaristan's (graveyard) gate which has been closed due to lockdown and the second was of an empty street in Mumbai.

The actor thanked the people for listening to the guidelines and understanding the gravity of this situation amid the 21-day government-imposed lockdown in view of coronavirus outbreak. The tweet by 'Dabangg' actor came soon after the conclusion of Shab-e-Barat.

Shab-e-Barat is observed as a day of forgiveness or atonement in Islam and leads to congregations at graveyards and religious places.

The 54-year-old actor took to Twitter and wrote, "Wah! Thank u for listening n understanding the gravity of this situation the country is in. God bless n protect each n every 1.

Over the past few days, appeals were made to the Muslim community from several quarters to not venture out of their houses to pray on Shab-e-Barat in view of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Earlier, the 'Tiger Zinda Hai' star shared his lockdown experience in a video message with nephew Nirvaan and urged people to take the government's advisory of self-isolation seriously amid the rising cases of coronavirus in the country.
