Son's 'negative coverage' irks HDK, vows to boycott media

Bengaluru, Apr 29: Apparently upset over the negative coverage about his son Nikhil, who is contesting from the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said he was “boycotting” the media.

“I’m boycotting you. You do whatever you want for your story... Go do it. Go enjoy,” Kumaraswamy told reporters when they sought his reactions after his meeting with Congress general secretary KC Venugopal.

The CM did not provide any reason for his outburst, but sources said he was upset over reports that his son would lose the poll against independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh. Some reports even quoted intelligence sources to bolster their claims.

In the run-up to the elections, Kumaraswamy had repeatedly hit out at the media and accused reporters of supporting Sumalatha. While campaigning for his son in Mandya, he told reporters that he could not be held responsible if JD(S) supporters attacked them.

Bengaluru, Mar 27: Karnataka has recorded the third death due to the Covid-19 virus. It is a man from Tumakuru with a travel history to Delhi. He had been put in isolation at the District Hospital in Tumakuru on March 24.

His travel history indicates that he travelled to New Delhi by the Sampark Kranti Express (Coach S6) on March 5 along with 13 members. They reached Hazrat Nizamuddin station in New Delhi on March 7 and went to the Jamia Masjid and rented an room at a lodge nearby.

He began the return journey to Karnataka by the Kongu Express on March 11 in Coach no. S9. On March 18, he developed cough and fever and visited a private hospital the next day. He was referred to the District Hospital in Tumakuru but on March 24, he left the hospital against medical advice and went to a private medical facility. He was referred back to the District Hospital, where he was put isolation.

Shivamogga, Aug 9: Minister of State for Railways Suresh Angadi on Saturday virtually inaugurated Malgudi Museum at Arasalu in Karantaka's Shivamogga.

The old station building at Arasalu has been converted into museum.
BJP MP from Shivamogga BY Raghavendra said that the old station building at Arasalu has been renovated keeping with 'Malgudi' theme in mind.

"It is a tribute to the makers of the popular television serial 'Malgudi Days' as the station features predominantly in the episodes which broadcast on Doordarshan in the 1980s," he said.

The museum has been designed by a famous artist John Devraj, who was the part of the serial Malgudi Days. The Mysore Divisional Railway funded the museum.

"The approach road and station area wear a new transformed look. The innovative idea of having a tea-shop in a narrow gauge coach at Arasalu station adds charm to the green surroundings," the MP said.

"Popular and internationally acclaimed serial Malgudi Days was shot here in Arasalu. The SWR Mysore division manager Aparna Garg helped to transform the station to fictional village Malgudi," he added.

The museum is about 30 km from Shivamogga city. It has steam engines and bogies besides collections of photographs hanging on the wall taken during the time of shooting for Malgudi Days.
