Special prayers offered in temples across Karnataka to invoke ‘rain-god’

Bengaluru, Jun 6: Worried over the continued dry spell and delayed South West monsoon, the Karnataka government has ordered for conducting special prayers and Poojas in the temples, which comes under Muzarai Department on Thursday.

According to official sources, the Muzarai Department has released additional funds to all the temples which comes under its administration to offer special Pooja to invoke rain god.

In a special Pooja conducted at Rushyashringa Temple in Kigga village in Sringeri taluk of Chikmagalur District, the Minister for Water Resources D K Shivakumar and Minister for Muzarai P T Parameshwara Naik participated in the Pooja and prayed the rain-god to bless with good rains across the State.

Bengaluru, Jun 16: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) chief DK Shivakumar's daughter Aishwarya and Cafe Coffe Day founder late VG Siddhartha's son, Amarthya Hegde got engaged at SM Krishna Residence, Sadashivanagar in Bengaluru on Monday.
Only family members were present in the event. Amarthya Hegde is also the grandson of former Union Minister SM Krishna.
Last year in July, the body of Cafe Coffee Day (CCD) founder Siddhartha was unearthed on the banks of Netravati river.

Bengaluru, Jan 7: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths held an international bookie in connection with the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) betting scam and spot-fixing racket, police said on Tuesday.

The bookie was identified as Jitin Sait (32), a native of Sonipat in Haryana.

'We had obtained and issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against Sait, and on Sunday, he was caught after he landed at the Kempegowda International Airport from the Netherlands.

Bengaluru, Apr 22:  Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Department has warned of action against those raising funds for Covid relief works, by using photos of children.

In a release here on Wednesday, the department said that several non-governmental organisations and voluntary groups were using the photographs of children to collect donations.

It has come to notice that several NGOs are using photos of children to raise donations to meet their food, health and other expenditure during the lockdown. However, this is against the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act," the Director of the ICDS scheme stated in a release.
