Special trains announced for Deepavali

Railway_DiwaliChennai, Oct 30: Southern Railways has announced special trains to clear the extra rush of passengers in view of Deepavali.

Chennai Central–Bangalore–Chennai Central special trains:

Train number 06013 Chennai Central–Bangalore City Special will leave Chennai Central at 11 p.m. from November 1 to 5 and arrive at Bangalore City at 4.50 a.m. the next day.

Train number 06014 Banaglore City–Chennai Central Special will leave Bangalore at 11.15 p.m. from November 1 to 5 and arrive at Chennai Central at 6 a.m. the next day.

Multiple stops

The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Kuppam, Bangarpet, Krishnarajapuram and Bangalore Cantonment.

Advance reservation for the above trains will commence on Wednesday.

May 7: Two people, including a child, were killed and nearly 70 hospitalised after a gas leak at a chemical plant in Andhra Pradesh's Visakhapatnam in the wee hours of Thursday, officials said.

People in Gopalapatnam area, where the chemical plant, LG Polymers, is located, complained of irritation in eyes, breathlessness, nausea and rashes on their bodies.

District Collector V Vinay Chand said two people were killed due to the gas leak, while some are in a critical condition.

Close to 70 people have been admitted to the King George Hospital after for treatment, he said.

TV channels showed people lying unconscious on roads.

Teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have rushed to the spot.

Reports said the gas leak has been contained.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy enquired about the incident and directed the Visakhapatnam district collector to ensure proper medical care for the affected people.

New Delhi, Jun 2: India on Tuesday reported 8,171 more COVID-19 cases and 204 deaths in the last 24 hours as the country's virus count inches closer to two lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

The total number of cases in the country now stands at 1,98,706 including 97,581 active cases, 95,527 cured/discharged/migrated and 5,598 deaths.

Cases in Maharashtra have crossed 70,000 including over 30,000 recovered while Tamil Nadu's COVID-19 tally jumped to 23,495.

Palghar, Jun 15: A 22-year-old man who got married three days ago tested positive for novel coronavirus on Monday leading to the bride and 63 others who attended the function being quarantined in Palghar district in Maharashtra, an official said.

Jawhar Tehsildar Santosh Shinde said the man is a laboratory assistant.

"He got tested before marriage and the report had returned negative. However, his samples tested positive after marriage. The bride and 63 others who attended the ceremony have been quarantined," he said.

Palghar currently has 1,911 COVID-19 cases and 61 people have died of the infection so far.
